Hello everyone
I just checked how many days I'd posted this month - not good! I have counted up and have a grand total of 6 AFDs so far this month (2 of which were yesterday and today). I have slipped right back into my old habits and have seriously wondered how much control I actually have over my drinking. Still, I've come back here because I do know that I'm more accountable here than in my 'real' life. I'm actually a little bit scared that I can't really stop drinking - or rather that I can't just have a drink or two (which I definitely can't - once I start I can't stop). Anyhow sorry for rambling but I am trying yet again. 6/20 please Cathybird4 -
Just a thought @oceandreamer but I found it helpful to set myself some ground rules at the start. Mine are not drinking on 'ordinary' days. For me that translates into having a drink at weekends and occasions when I go out with friends, birthdays, holidays, having people round. It does depend on your lifestyle but that works for me. I also find I prefer a low target and beating it (if possible). 😊3

21/28 for me please cathybird. Had a couple of socials planned this month but both have cancelled, so it has unexpectedly been AF so far.

This sounds like me three years ago. I was really not in a good place as far as alcohol was concerned. (I have posted this before, but maybe you haven't seen it. I'm sure most of the others have). I was at a stage where I would be at the local convenience store at 10 past 8 in the morning because it opened at 8:00 and sold alcohol. At this point, I was beginning to think maybe this is out of control. So one Monday morning in Easter 2021 I decided no, no more. I'll give it up. Now my thinking is that if somebody wants to give up whether it's drinking alcohol, gambling, whatever, they need to find their own reasons to do so. Not someone else's. Not something off the Internet but their own reasons. I want to stop drinking because... it works for me. The only time I drink now is it on holiday abroad and I've now had 1090 days alcohol-free at home in a row. So it can be done if I can do it. Anyone can.!oceandreamer said:Hello everyone
