Season_of_Mist said:Finishing August on 31/31 thank you cathybird. I have more or less done dry summer now; the last occasion I had any alcohol was in mid-April so for me May, June, July and Aug have all been completely AF months.Another way of looking at the numbers is to say that I have had 9 non-AF days out of 242 so far this year. Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!3

That’s good going marahouti! No drinking at all up to the end of August is great work. And RobM’s total of only 6 days is a pretty skinny number too.I do hesitate to put up a running total on here sometimes because I am very aware that not everyone is where they want to be with cutting down, and some will openly post about how much they are struggling. I’m just conscious that it might seem insensitive if I post up some numbers that I am happy with on the same page as someone else who is not in a good place with their drinking. It just really helps me to type out my progress on here, somehow it makes it seem more real if that makes any sense. Or at least reinforces in my own mind that I am on the right path.It definitely hasn’t always been that way for me and to anyone who is finding it a struggle, I would just say that it IS possible to cut down, it is NEVER too late to start and to please keep posting in this thread as just the act of keeping track of numbers / units / days on here will help to give a sense that at least you are being accountable to yourself.4

I finished August on 7/14. Please can I have a target of 14 in September. (A triumph of optimism over experience...)
I drrink on more days since my mother died suddenly last August and I started caring for my father. Strangely my lower numbers are bothering me less for 3 reasons. 1. I often now have days where 1 glass 'ruins' an AFD to be sociable with my father and sister. I try not to think of this as wasting an AFD and it means I am drinking fewer alcohol units weekly. 2. I have less brain space and time for anything and everything in my life at the moment so spend less of it worrying about my drinking. 3. I have worked out that being kind to myself and moving to acceptance is healthier than self-flagellation as when I obsess about what a bad person I am I drink more.
I think those people with great numbers are part of the inspirational side of the thread so as one who struggles along I'd say be very un-British. Brag, boast, holler and shout from the rooftops abput how great it's going for you and light the path clearly for others.4 -
Finishing August on 14/10 please cathybird
Well done to everyone on here - whether you AF days are less or more - just being on here shows we are all trying 😀. To all those who have very high numbers, please don’t feel bad about shouting it from the rooftops - you are an inspiration 👏👏👏
Special thanks to the wonderful cathybird for keeping track of us all so well - you are a ⭐️.1
