Ok, so my latest yarn order has arrived so I have done a bit of a ‘stocktake’ of yarn…
I have 71* x 100g balls of DK (😱), 10 x 100g balls of chunky and 4 x 50g balls of 4 ply - that’s just the new/unused stuff…
I also have a large plastic box full of part used balls buried in a corner that I can’t get to just at the moment.
(*That doesn’t include the 3 balls I took yesterday for the jumper I’ve just started.)Well, that’s enough to keep me busy for a while! 😆 😳
On the plus side, I’ve taken two sausages out of the freezer to defrost 😁2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

but the execution has been somewhat lacking, for all sorts of reasons.
Most of the stuff in this house needs a touch of execution- off with it's head!!
have spent 2 days trying to sort the herbs & spices. Woe is me, found one jar (poppy seeds) dated bb 1993! oops. Have given away 8 unopened ood spices- fine, just won't be quite so strong. have now got all the jars on the shelf (which hadn't happened for aeons)
I have load of fancy Nescafe jars (large ones on sale for £9.99- vintage 70s) I need to decide how to use them: they are eating valuable space whilst empty. No, I don't want to part with them, there has been natural wastage in the past when either lid or jar has smashed- usually the lid!
Good luck with your venture

Well done on your herbs/spices cull/reorganisation 🙂
I’ve just Googled 1970s Nescafe jars and realised that my Dad has a whole shelf of them in his garage, holding screws/nails/washers etc - they’ve been there as long as I can remember so I guess my mum brought them when they were full of Nescafe originally.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Ah, the ever present annual stash busting! I think we all have various stashes of things and - usually at the beginning of a New Year - promise ourselves we'll reduce or get rid of them altogether. Easier said than done.
That said, I've gradually reduced toiletries and cleaning stuff to a more acceptable level. There are still a few "spares" to go yet but this year they're on course to be reduced to one in use and one spare. And I've got used to looking to see what I already have before buying more, so I'm counting that as a success.
Knitting yarn and fabric are my weaknesses. The yarn stash is gradually being whittled away but, like jackieblack, there is some more on its way!Not to mention the various left over oddments in a separate storage box. I've sorted out three lots that I know I won't use and will donate them to the CS. I'm telling myself that compensates for the new ones that are coming.
The fabric stash is a different kettle of fish. This year's plan to use some up didn't happen so my first move will be to go through it all, decide what I definitely won't use and take that to the CS. I did get as far as cutting out a pair of trousers and even buying some elastic for the waistband, but that's as far as it went.More effort needed!
Stationery could do with a bit of a sort out although it's not as bad as it used to be. Herbs & spices are under control. Books, vinyl, cassette tapes and CDs were pruned this year - another win.
I'll be approaching 2023 with determination - let's hope the enthusiasm doesn't disappear!Be kind to others and to yourself too.10 -

Welcome YorksLass 🙂
I have to say, it’s been a joyous revelation to discover so many others with the same ‘problem’ - it makes it feel almost ‘normal’!
I’m hoping having this thread and recording all the usage will help keep me accountable 🤞🏻2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

I have come to understand that crafters are natural hoarders. I truly believe that, in my case, the collecting of the yarn is more satisfying than actually using it.As for foodstuff / household stuff, I'm same as you @jackieblack. Dozens of loo rolls, kitchen rolls, jars of this, tins of that. December became Declutterber in this house. I've not done any food shopping for a month now, other than fresh fruit and veg and bread. And I'm determined to finish the blanket I started in September. The only thing I can't seem to hoard is cash....Thanks for starting this thread; I'm following with interest.

Well done on your ‘Declutterber’ - are you finished using up your food stash or will that continue into the new year?2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Welcome, DiamondLil 🙂
Well done on your ‘Declutterber’ - are you finished using up your food stash or will that continue into the new year?Er, no, not nearly finished; I have a lot of dried goods, freezer still at least half full, and some canned (bottled) stuff still to use.I grew up in the fifties when war rationing was still a very recent memory for my parents and grandparents. So am deeply enshrined in the "full larder" mentality. If only I was as good at collecting money.9
