  • That's exciting about the dog! I want one so bad as well but just not feasible at the moment as I'm away all day for work on office day and when go to football. But that's the long term plan should I stop going to football. What breed are you looking at?

Puppy update - the lady I posted hadn't replied so I messaged a couple of others that were relatively local yesterday. One replied saying I could go and see them so me and my best mate set off to see them. An hour and a half later and we arrived ... and couldn't get out of there quick enough. There was no signs that the puppies actually lived there - no water bowl, no blankets, no mummy dog ... when we asked to see Mum we were fobbed off with a story about her being at work with her husband and wouldn't be back til late. They hadn't had any vaccinations and she wasn't forthcoming with any medical documents. We made our excuses and she said we could just pay and take whichever one we wanted there and then. We left without a puppy. I was so shocked, clearly they were the result of a puppy farm, or had been stolen. Not what I was looking for at all.

Then I had a reply from the second one, sounded much more positive, said I could view at the weekend as long as I sent him £200 as a deposit first. Only he didn't want to do it through the website payment facility, he wanted me to send £200 to his bank account and he'd 'text me a receipt'?! Err no!?! I've never met you or the puppies, have no proof that you live anywhere near where you say you do, absolutely zero chance I'll be sending you £200 mate! Scary how many scammers there are out there and worrying how many people probably do pay up :(

Then today the original lady has replied and I am going to see them tomorrow. There are 2 our of the 8 puppies still available, she has lots of pictures and videos on the website of them, they are utterly adorable and clearly are used to children and have grown up in a 'normal' family home. It's looking much more promising but we shall see. They are only about ten minutes away from me too so not a long journey this time either. Fingers crossed for this one x

Sarahwithlove - the one I'm seeing tomorrow is a cockapoo. I'd like either a cockapoo or a cavapoo. Mid size, not big moulters.

  • I have a cockapoo and she is the most loving and friendly dog with the loveliest nature 😁 She's a big lass though - around 20kg so medium dog size. My daughter has a dachshund puppy who is a terror and my dog just lets him jump on her and run rings round her😆
I really need to sort out a new signature!

I'm budgeting around £50 a month for food and insurance, then there's vaccinations, grooming etc. Hopefully I will only need doggy day care rarely - ds and friend are here lots when I'm at work, Mum is a couple of doors down and my best mate is a doggy lover too and will dogsit if ever needed.

  • Her insurance is under £10 a month and we increased the cover this year. Food-wise, she has Butternut box, which I probably spend around £30 a month on, dried food which can change as she gets bored! Currently on one that was a good price. I also spend about £10 a month on some wet food sachets that I put over her dried for breakfast. We do pay a monthly fee to the vet that covers wormer and flea treatments as well as giving us 20% off when she was spayed and regular check ups. I want to say that's about £15 a month?
She is worth it though! So looking forward to seeing yours😀

  • Oh and we spend £50 every 8-10 weeks at the groomers!
