Sorry to hear about your mum @benbenandme. My mum has dementia but still knows who we are thankfully. She is a smoker too & is obsessed with it - it’s the only thing she wants to do. You have inspired me to make a pie too with leftovers. Due to collection times we have to go nearly 4 weeks with our main bin not being emptied so DH is on tip run! You just can’t store that kind of waste!! I hope you have a lovely day of football as a supporter of a team that yo-yo’s between divisions our day was yesterday! Hope you have a cheeky bet/spins & it wins you some money to eke out the pots till new year! X1

The less said about the football tonight the better, grrr

Now, in other news .... I have kept this one quiet for a while but here goes .... each year I buy myself a Christmas present, last year was Oasis tickets, this year I haven't mentioned it. Til now.
Those of you who have been around here for a long time may remember back in the days of my flat I, and ds, wanted a dog. I've always wanted one, I grew up with dogs, but couldn't have one living in a flat. I always said that once I got a house with a garden I'd get a dog. Well I've been here 8 years now. I've been thinking about it for a while and putting it off, but keep coming back to it. I had said I'd wait til I retire, but that's still 15 years away.
Having my cat is lovely, and she is adorable, but I still want a dog. I want the company on walks, ds is older now and I am resigned to staying single (the on / off ex still appears now and then but that's all it will ever be), and this year has shown me life is too short to keep putting things off til another day. So that day is here. I've been researching breeds, looking online at dogs etc and have messaged a breeder to go and see a litter of puppies locally. I am beyond excited but need to not get carried away just yet.
I know I am at work Mon-Fi, but I can pop home at lunch, ds has 2 days off during the week and often doesn't start work until 3/4pm, so either he, I or his friend are usually at home throughout the day at some point. I will keep you all posted on how this goes.Mortgage Total: £50,550/ £75,000

After many years of me resisting we finally got a dog. Best thing we ever did. She’s been an utter joy and a lifesaver. She’s almost 14 now but a Jack Russell so quite a robust breed. I’m pretty certain you won’t regret it. They give you a reason to leave the house whatever the weather and get you chatting to fellow dog walkers. Plus they are great company. Oh and we have two cats as well.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

No reply as yet from the breeder, will keep you posted.
Today is get the house back to normal day. I keep trying to tidy but its just puffing round the edges as everything is in the wrong place due to Christmas - the tree is where ds' friends stuff normally lives so that has moved to the end of the room, the table and chairs are in the conservatory whereas that's normally quite clear. So, the tree has been stripped and is in the garden waiting to be chopped up, the decs are back in their boxes waiting to go back into the loft and everywhere else looks like a bombsite that is in need of a damn good clean and tidy
I am going to set 20 minute timers on the tv from Youtube, then have a rest in between each one with some laptop time as I don't want the whole day to just be cleaning, I want to do it leisurely if that makes sense

Getting our dog was the best thing I did! I absolutely love having her and cannot recommend it enough😍
I really need to sort out a new signature!1 -
Hi, just popping in to ask if you know of the Boots recycling scheme? You sign up and download the separate app and then any toiletries; bottles, tablet packets, contact lens packets etc can be scanned and added. When you recycle four items you get 500 advantage card points but you have to spend £10 to activate them. Worth checking out my advantage card points have gone up considerably this year and all due to stuff I would normally throw away anyway.

Gosh thank you Alison, I didn't know about that one - I've thrown away loads of toiletry bottles, emptied my contact lenses out of their boxes into tubs, and everything went to the tip
Although I rarely go to Boots, the points were nearly all via my contact lens plan but well worth knowing for future, thank you
I'm on a cleaning mission now, downstairs is slowly getting back to normal, I'm doing a good clean as I go. I need to get the industrial Henry out, and the carpet shampooer but ds is still asleep at the moment (he's like an owl). He should be up soonish I hope, otherwise he will get woken up by the noise of it.
Time for some lunch now as I haven't eaten yet today. The fridge is looking like it needs a sort later, some stuff will need to go today, although very little has been wasted, it's mainly things like the last piece of yule log, the last few profiteroles, a couple of sausage rolls etc.
