Ordered asparagus crowns and the last few seeds still wanted (parsnip and endive). Finally feeling better, just need the weather to improve. So unvelievably wet.
Don't get  someone to weed who does not understand asparagus and how it grows. Our DS carefully dug all ours up when he "helped" the first year we had them. We lost two

Still too cold (the earth, not the air temperature) to plant my seed potatoes and I was pleased to watch Adam Frost on GW say the same thing last night. I shall hold off planting for a week as mine are 2nd Earlies (Charlotte). We enjoy the small Jersey Royals so much I do buy them. Having grown International Kidney (the same variety but different soil!) on a number of occasions I prefer to buy them these days. Our Spring in the East is too cold really for them.

I’m glad you are saying this too - my very serious gardening friend is putting her spuds in the ground, but I think it’s too cold and wet atm too. Potatoes are a native of exotic climes after all - putting them in wet cold ground doesn’t sound conducive to growth but more likely rot to me!

My salad potatoes (Charlotte) are yet to go in and I haven't seen International Kidney available locally but I mulch my beds with seaweed over winter and that might be an option to improve the flavour. Not the same seaweed as Jersey vraic, I don't think, but it might help. The asparagus beds also received a generous mulch of seaweed.

    Not a happy bunny.

I ordered a replacement cover for my greenhouse a few months back and decided not to put it on just yet as there was no point because the weather was rubbish.

Ive just finished planting up some pansies into pots and figured Id set the cover up and get pots etc in the greenhouse ready along with compost - only to open the cover and try to put it on the greenhosue to find they have sent the wrong one.
I needed the walk in cover with 4 shelves - 6 if you include the floor --- and instead they have sent me a cover for one that is half the size........and do you think I can remember where I ordered it from to return it.......can I chuff.

So now sat relooking at covers and think it might be just as cost effective to buy a new greenhouse with cover, use the cover on the frame I have spent most the winter reinforcing etc and then mcgyver the new frame that comes to make a greenhouse to fit the cover that was sent to me that doesnt fit.
Then use the smaller greenhouse for seeds/starting seeds etc and the bigger house for growing plants on in.

    Typical isnt it.

Put it on FB MP for a couple of pounds to recover some of your costs? - Not sure when Aldilily do their garden events but I have liked their cold frames the last two years (about £30-35 each and quite robust if you don't leave the lids up all winter)

edit... just seen this at Aldo's (mail order)
