Some unplanned clothes/haberdashery spending here but all pre-loved. I found trekking sandals for £3 and ribbon for 50p in charity shops. Very pleased about the sandals as they are super-comfortable.
It's been too wet for my beloved car boot sales, apart from the two weeks when we had prior arrangements. Saves money and space, but it will be nice to be back to them.
I've received the dress I ordered off E-bay and it's lovely - but unfortunately I should be a size too small for it, but am actually a size too big. For the time being I will keep the dress and concentrate on getting to a healthier size, but an alternative may be needed depending on how things go between now and the wedding.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. Thanks for the crystal deodorant tip, @Nelliegrace, I'll certainly try that! And agreeing about Joe Lycett's off-the-cuff remarks; the DDs became quite shy about watching Sewing Bee if I was in the room. Eventually I think they decided I wouldn't understand anyway, so carried on watching... they both can, and DD2 does, make their own clothes, despite being of model-girl proportions. But she's always broke (her autism means she can't face the vicissitudes of outside employment) and detests "throwaway" clothing, so she designs & makes her own. No duvet cover is safe in this household!
I think I'm all set for next week's shenanigans now. Just need to make a card - but can I decide on style? Having spent hours poring over P1nterest, I'm still completely lost for inspiration; nothing is quite - them, if you know what I mean!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)8 -
Hi all, visited the cs yesterday to look for some blue yarn to attempt to knit something for the expected baby and I was lucky enough to find 2 balls of different but nice blue. I also found 2 skeins of Debbie Bliss Andes in a silvery grey colour that feels lovely. This is totally useless for baby things as it is cool hand wash only but I loved it. Also a big ball of crochet cotton and a Debbie Bliss book, the knitters year, 52 simple seasonal knits. There is not a lot of things in it that I would make to keep but there are quite a few that involve techniques I would like to learn how to do so I am quite pleased about that as it is one of my aims and means I don't have to tackle a big project to give them a go. Had a lovely chat with the volunteer who served me about knitting and her ' working' conditions. It seems she is feeling a bit fed up with the way she is treated which is a shame. She does 3 x 7 hour days and extra if they are short handed but feels there is no allowance from the manager, presumably a paid job, for the amount of work entailed in getting a donation from the donation bag to the rack. As this shop is in a place with quite a large footfall I imagine it is quite busy but always looks nicely presented with things in the window nicely displayed, clothes coordinated etc. I must admit I did feel for her as 3 days is quite a commitment and she could probably easily do a similar job in a supermarket where she would be paid. I know all the charities are under financial pressure but I don't think upsetting your volunteers will be very productive.
So no coupons spent but a good find
Take care everyone8 -

Hi all, just popping in to say my nephew is finally home from India and opened his Christmas present, the Blofeld bingo t shirt
. He loves it, which is praise indeed from him. Thank you Pip for the heads up about that all those months ago

Hello to all!
Thanks to @Cherryfudge for the kick up the bottom to come back into the fold.
Life has been busy here, and the silly doggo has done his leg in and we've been waiting for surgery for over 3 weeks. He's finally booked in next week. His pain is managed so that's good, but mine is yet to be given the upcoming £3,000 bill.
But I do have coupon spends to announce.
2 new pairs of dungarees and one pair of hi top trainers. Off to update my signature.
Everything else has been secondhand from the various market traders, but I am pleased to say I've cancelled my accounts on 2 of them after spending a bit too much money on them.
Being stuck inside with an injured dog has meant no trips to the charity shops either unfortunately.Wealth is not measured by currency7 -

Welcome back @CAFCGirl. I don't think you're missing too much from our local charity shops recently (apart from a very pretty tea set and I got that).
@MrsCD, I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope you and your Dad can have some quality time together. Look after yourself when you get any opportunity because that's important too. xI think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Thanks, @Cherryfudge. I've just come in from seeing the Marie Curie night time nurse, so I'm heading off for an early, for me, night! This week has been a whirlwind of setting things up etc, so quite exhausting.2025 Fashion on the ration
