Tissues are just for messy colds, Soft loo roll is cheaper for at home. I reuse the magazine plastic wrappers for used ones and they go in the wheelie bin. Our waste is incinerated at the local power station. Nappy sacks are useful for used tissues too, they were cheaper than doggy bags. Leaving them around is disgusting. Giving someone your cold at home means you get to nurse them, and some patients are a bit of a pain.
I inherited my great aunt’s bottom drawer of handkerchiefs. I suspect she made a lot out of cotton sheets, they are quite thick with fine cotton crochet lace edging.
I used to be able to see to do drawn thread work for handkerchiefs. I have sewn some in fine cotton lawn for my Mum.
Most of my hankies are from boxed sets of vintage Irish linen from eBay. Keep looking and some go for a song, someone’s elderly relative who never used them. Some arrive with old sellotape marks, and some a bit of mildew or rust from pins. Alcohol, white vinegar, salt or Oxyclene to soak and a hot wash can work wonders. I like white embroidery. If they are cheap enough it is worth the risk. No coupons for second hand.

Evening, everyone, I've got a spend to declare - 10 points for 5 pairs of knickers.
Laura, I feel your pain regarding the weight gain. However, while apples are good for you for many reasons, please remember that fruit contains a lot of sugar in the form of fructose. DS2 is diabetic, and he has to be very careful of what fruit he eats, and how much, because of the sugar they contain.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!Sealed Pot Challenge no 035.

Laura, I also feel your pain regarding the weight gain. Not long ago I talked about losing weight. I am not doing very well at the moment. My DH and I also use handkerchiefs. When my uncle died I gained some of his 'newer' ones. Some he has received from my cousin who died in 2016. I also received some from my MIL when she passed. My stepfather who had just died used man-sized tissues and a lot of them. So sadly no hankies from him. But I am wearing some of his newer socks. My DH has asked if I can come home with some more of his socks so that he can wear them too.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

That is absolutely astonishing work. You'd need better eyesight and patience than I possess!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.2

The secrets are good light and a really good magnifying glass. If you watch the ?second series of Secrets At The Museum at the V&A, you will see fabric conservators making this type of repair.
My mum was taught to invisible mending in the 1930’s, when she was at college learning dressmaking, but I never saw her do it.
