Good morning All
Apologies for my absence - the Ministry has had me hard at work and my eyes couldn’t face spending any spare time on a screen. (I have to get my eyes tested again. I can tell that my left glasses lens isn’t right, but last time I went - September - they insisted my prescription was correct.)
Beautiful dress @Madbat60. Can’t wait to see you wearing it in summer.
Love the skirt, too, @thriftwizard. Hope you can find the pattern you need to make a matching wrap top.
We had snow on Wednesday, in my part of London, and I had to scrape the car before heading off to Wiltshire for a work event for International Women’s Day, All the way down, I was questioning my sanity for driving voluntarily in a snow storm. I even stopped at the Services and phoned a colleague to ask her to check that it hadn’t been cancelled. (I knew she wasn’t attending.). It hadn’t, so I persisted. Glad I went, but what was I thinking? At least the motorway was gritted.
Took DH to the airport on Friday. Ssshhhh…. <whisper> He’s working in the Middle-East for two weeks. </whisper> I’m at a bit of a loose end - it’s a very long time since I was on my own for more than a few hours. Think I’ll spring clean the kitchen here, in the Hall. Can anyone recommend something to listen to on the Wireless/watch on BBC iPlayer or UKTV Play?

If you are spring cleaning the kitchen in the hall, then it ought to be Music While You Work! However, that ceased in 1967.... I'm afraid that I usually listen to a book on Audible, so I can't give you any recommendations.
Bottles for vodka- try looking in the travel section of Boots. They usually sell small empty spray bottles.
Laura, I've got a copy of Odhams Knitting Dictionary, which came to me via my mother (I don't know why she had it, as she does't knit and never has done). However, I guard it against all comers.....

Can't resist sharing my latest "Visible Mending" project - mostly because this is the first one that's turned out how I wanted it to! It's a beautifully-soft pure lambswool child's jumper which had a couple of stains on the front, now embroidered over:
There's another tiny stain where the needle is so a third bee will probably appear in the morning!Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)11 -
In the end, @CapricornLass, I listened to a podcast on Roman London, while pottering around the kitchen.Nelliegrace said:
I’ve worked my way through several BBC Radio series over the last few weeks, which are available as podcasts: Nuremberg is the most notable. It’s a dramatisation about the events surrounding the Nuremberg trials. I have the producer’s new series, The Rise of the Nazis, somewhere in my queue but there’s probably 500 podcasts to get through first. The next one lined up is Lucy Worsley’s Lady Killers.

That is beautiful, @thriftwizard. As a child, I would have begged for a jumper embroidered like that.

Beautiful work @thriftwizard Embroidered moths would be an alternative for dealing with their wretched holes.
I hated seeing bees like that on the veil of my bee suit. It meant that the little bees were on the inside. I went to squash one, the only action possible, and discovered that I was holding the metal hive tool- a sting, a bruise and a cut.
Gin, vinegar and salt rubbed-in and left for half an hour, and a hot wash, worked on the gel pen marks on the cotton duvet cover. All is forgiven. Pencil only for his next Zoom meeting.7 -
Those bees are so sweet @thriftwizard! Great choice.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
