I have one of my Dad's jumpers, that I love to wear and think of him. Its not doing to badly considering he died 15 years ago now. I wanted one of my Gran's cardigan's when she died, but my Uncle forgot and had given it all away by the time I reminded himLive the good life where you have been planted.

I don’t think many people would think twice about wearing jewellery belonging to someone who’s died. In fact it’s often worn with pride. Why not clothes? In times gone by when fabric was very expensive and clothing was frequently remodelled, clothes were often left in someone’s will.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.8

Slightly off topic and I’ve not even seen the film, but I’m sure this knitter would feel at home among us!

DH’s wedding ring was probably my grandfather’s. We found it in my dad’s drawer, after both my parents died, so I’ve always assumed it was his dad’s. My dad didn’t wear a ring, because it would have been too dangerous where he worked. (Heavy engineering.)
I wear my mum’s eternity ring. She died when I was 27, but it wasn’t until I turned 40, that I felt I had her permission to wear it. I couldn’t wear it before then; it always felt wrong. Then on my 40th birthday, I felt compelled to put it on. It was if she was saying “Now you are old enough to wear my ring”.

Hi all, I have no problem wearing the clothes of people who have died. I would have happily worn my Mum's lovely hand made cardigans if they had fitted me. My sister and niece took most of them as they are small like my Mum. I do wear my Mum's wedding ring.. I also have a lovely cardigan that belonged to OHs Mum. You are right Pip, it is about the cost of fabric today and the fact that most of us have so many clothes already. As has been said if you are happy to wear clothes from the cs I don't see the difference.
Take care everyone5 -

I treasure the handspun wool, knitted jumpers Mum made for me, and some she wore, and a floor rug and blanket woven by my Dad. We spent an afternoon with them dead-heading masses of daffodils from a neighbour’s country house with a large garden to make the golden yellow dye to go with the natural cream and brown sheepswool in the blanket.
Her padded gilet was my hug from Mum in the first year after she died.
Are we ever going to be warm again? I bought a lined corduroy hat at TKMaxx reduced to £6, no points.
I bought a warm men’s corduroy shirt reduced to £11 which I shall wear as a jacket. 5 points
Total 11 points.6 -
What a wonderful memory, @Nelliegrace. I think the general consensus is to feel free to wear your loved one's things when they no longer need them if you want to - and why ever not?
Today I did a couple of bits of mending, one of which was a damaged work shirt. It's very comfortable and I'm proud of myself for getting it back to wearability. Now the thing is, the new issue of work shirts aren't nearly as good a fit, and I've found out not only where I can get the same as my favourites, but also that they are currently in a sale for less than a tenner. Good value as they are well made.
Complications are- I can get by with what I have if I need to,
- work will supply the not-so-good ones for free if needed,
- uniform is (oddly) not compulsory
- I wouldn't be getting the old navy blue (too dark) or the new light blue (not a nice shade) but white for summer - so that's not even uniform...
Edit: and postage is a fiver so would I be better getting two at once?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Thinking aloud, I think it comes down to whether I'm willing to pay about a tenner for a well-made top to wear to work and save my other clothes. White is probably not an ideal choice but it's better than navy in summer, that building gets so hot.
Edit: and postage is a fiver so would I be better getting two at once?Ahem... a white and a dark green. That would be 10 coupons normally but... didn't I hear uniform is coupon free? As in boiler suits! These are not fashion items though I might wear them for gardening once I retire!
You decide.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
