JANUARY BUDGETS should be set before the start of the month (7th for final details). - One birthday (DS2) - not sure what he will want for 'birthday food' but I suspect a [email protected] - presents are some small bits to unwrap and then driving lessons (it's what we've done for the others when they reach 17) 1 meal out with friends (that's our social event every month) Food - lots to use up - am part way through 'auditing' freezers and fridge. I have a full tank of petrol and that should be enough for me for the month (although I do have a day out with work that I need to drive for so may need more fuel - but the mileage is claimable)
ASSESS what you have and give thanks daily. Food, Toiletries, Clothes, Spare change, fuel in your car, material resources. FOOD - as above, am stocktaking what we have, mainly because things are getting forgotten and to ensure things are rotated. TOILETRIES - I've been through my make up and toiletries - all will eventually get used - and I've noted that I need to start using bod scrubs and face masks up (to be fair to myself, I wasn't able ti use a lot of it last (this) year) CLOTHES - I'm ok clothes wise for the mo.
NSDs aim for 15. I don't monitor these but do take my lunch to work every day except maybe once a month (when my spend will be less than £2.50)
USE what you have. Yep - that's why I'm stocktaking food and have checked toiletries and make up. I should be ok for cleaning products but may need more toilet paper before month end. Will make laundry gloop if I need to.
ADD more of the things that make you happy, support your mental, physical or spiritual health or take you nearer to the life you want. I am decluttering 'stuff' and planning a Summer holiday (DH is also trying to plan an Easter break, but I'm not sure if funds will allow for that too!) I need to be better at doing less work - hopefully a new assistant (less than 1 day a week, though) will help slightly. I'm also going to concentrate on eating well and moving a little bit more and spending more time together as a family.
REVIEW YOUR GOALS - Which do you want to continue? Any you want to drop (overloaded yourself)? Where do you need to redouble your efforts? Did you set SMART Goals? - I have a specific weight loss goal for this year to improve my health overall.
YOU need to plan ahead and allocate your resources. ok
I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul
As I said before the last few months have been difficult health wise and consequently everything else has gone to pot. Between being on holiday and the almost impossibility of getting a medical appointment here I eventually saw a doctor on 19 December and yesterday an appointment for hospital tests came through for 12 January. I'm not sure if it's a good sign or not that I've been given one so quickly. It's been stressful but it is what it is.
So, this month I have to concentrate on looking after myself. Priority, eating good food, avoiding alcohol and trying to get a bit of exercise (if the weather improves). Secondly start looking after my appearance. I got lots of toiletries and jewellery for Christmas so that should help me mentally. And taking time to do things that make me happy - reading (got lots of new books too), listening to music, planting up pots for the summer, cooking, etc.
Following on from the above we were supposed to be going on a long trip to Europe at the beginning of January but that has had to be cancelled so on the plus side we have the money that from that and we plan to keep on adding to that so maybe next year. Main pay date is 6 January so budgets will be done then.
Being organised is the key to relieving stress so bit by bit I shall get this house in order. Serious decluttering required. And the cupboards and freezers are again full to bursting. A bit of inventive meal planning would help (plus curbing Himself's impulse buying).
Re-reading this it all sounds a bit selfish. I would like to do some volunteer charity work but I think that is maybe for the future.
I hope you all have a lovely evening and wish you everything you wish for yourself in 2023. xx
New Year's Eve, the tree is down, the baubles packed up, the furniture moved around a bit (poor DH did his impression of a lurcher and went and sat in the kitchen and shivered while I 'changed reality' in the living room), and I am catching up with my favourite 'A-Z of 2022' radio show. Currently on 'N', so might catch up by bedtime.
I have inadvertently become the proud owner of 15 bags of sprouts. So I reckon I can do crispy firecracker brussels sprouts with a couple of bags, and a sausage and mash and sprouts traybake, and a roast, and that will maybe leave me with 7 bags left by 2nd January . If I prep them, and they go and live in the fridge, then they will keep a week. Good job we all like 'mini cabbages' in our house.

Complete accident. The first thread I wrote was based on an old one of Kat's with some of her rules included (No Sales), some amendments and a few extras. Kat's included making £25 from 'penny sources' and I think I've only found 2 coins in the street in the past 6 - 9 months and I'm not sure it's even possible any more to pick up other people's discarded SM receipts.
My second attempt was based on J A N U A R Y but still had some Kat bits (occasionally using the original wording on things helps. This was the third attempt and I was trying to make it as concise as possible in the hope that it would let me post before DS1's internet and the MSE site had another fight. I needed to put something in as a heading (was wondering whether the similarity to Kat's thread was affecting my success, but then of course it grew.
Hugs Buffy, many, many hugs. (Lycra is not compulsory and please yourself on the pompoms - you could use 2 of the rabbits, persuade them that it's a game).
Please add me I promise to try to post regularly. NSDs are my downfall!
