Looking at some customer help Tweets, they have really been holding out on this, haven’t they? Good job it’s arrived, considering the lack of physical branches now! I hadn’t noticed the lack of the function since I opened a 123-Lite current account, just assumed it was there as most other banks already offer it.

I have just deposited a cheque using the Santander app and, unlike the HSBC and Halifax banking apps, it recognises the amount on the cheque without having to type it in manually - although it did struggle with reading the date on the cheque (confirmed via an easy to use scroll-wheel).
I’ve been into the Santander app as I’ve a small cheque to deposit and it’s a real pain getting to my nearest branch. No mention of a paying in facility and on line chat says there’s not one ???
