  • We want to bulk our FFEF up to £20k but that will at a slower pace, we’ve worn ourselves out!

Kids are doing well, DD1 and DS1 both enjoying their apprenticeships. DD2 currently doing GCSEs. DS2&3 are trundling along nicely at school.

Work is fine, I’m doing 2 days per week NHS and 1-2 days a week agency and it’s earning me a nice amount without being stressful.

Great to hear from you. Well done on the car sale, I remember it was a bit of a bone of contention.

Have you considered getting a cheap run around for the 2nd car if needed? Sounds like you've made alot of progress over last 10 months. Regarding moving, I don't think there is ever a good time for it. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and do it.

  • Nearly a year since I last updated 😮

I couldn’t figure out how to log in via the app, so had to do it the old fashioned way.

Money wise, all been good. We carried on saving and got up to £20k as planned.

Beginning of this year, I had a cancer diagnosis and am still undergoing treatment. Bit of a shock at the time as I have no family history and live a healthy lifestyle. But as the oncologist said… you’re over 45 and female, that’s all it takes!

VERY grateful we had our finances sorted as I’ll be off work for a long time and although I get sick pay it’s 6 months full pay and then 6 months half pay (grateful to work for NHS for this). Having no debt and a FFEF is fab.

I’m planning on using this diary to help me keep on track with finances as I’m hoping to navigate my sick leave without having to dip into our emergency fund too much!

  • Hi DITR

    Good to hear from you.
I’m doing ok thanks, having 6 months of chemo and immunotherapy before surgery and radiotherapy. I have a few days a month I feel rubbish, but on the whole I feel pretty normal.
