Had a tripette to Richmond on Sunday, (the Norf Yorks one not t’other darn sarf). Cor, the chazza prices were eye watering! Bought nowt. Loads of chazza shops but half were closed despite the hoards of visitors. Unlikely to return and makes me appreciate my 99p and 20p shops nearer to home.8

I am really good about decluttering. OH is really bad about taking stuff to charity shops. Now have three big (and I mean big) storage crates cluttering up the place. I thought about eBaying, but I worry that I would be putting the clutter back in the house rather than selling it.

Lovely haul @goldfinches – I have the Wm Morris print in a dress – I love it.
I saw a lovely teal blue fluffy Mountain Warehouse oodie type top in Age Concern on Friday for £5. Didn’t get it but now regretting it. Might pop in again tomorrow to see if it’s still there!

MrsStepford said:I'm pruning my clothes but acquiring egg cups. Also, posh shirts for husband. I have a list of brands, styles and colours. However, with Oxfam selling T M Lewin shirts for 19.99 each and T M Lewin selling new at discount for 11.88 more, not sure it's worth buying old shirts ??
There have to be new clothes at some point if second hand are also to be available. You could argue that better quality, first or second hand, is generally better because it will last longer, but if you're going to be painting the ceiling wearing that shirt, don't make it a good shirt. So perhaps a balance; if he really likes the shirt, does it matter if it's new or second hand? If it has to look new (for job purposes, perhaps), perhaps second hand for out of office hours?
I'm soon to attempt a repair on what was an expensive (for us) shirt bought the summer before last. It's been worn a huge amount since, looks good and price per wear must be low now. However, it's been loved to bits and a hole appeared in the tail. As it's not visible in wear, I thought I'd patch it and see if I can keep it going a bit longer. So one of the other aspects of the new vs old debate is whether people are willing and able to keep things going once they're bought new, how hard the person wears their clothes and whether it's for the board room or the garden.
