Got Vodafone full fibre today. Need landline advice

So we've got 500mb fibre today but what do I need to do to get our phone line working? Plugging the phone into our existing Vodafone router using rj11 hasn't worked and ringing our home number from a mobile results in an automated message about it being unavailable currently. I'm fairly sure I opted to keep the landline at the time of ordering as it's used by parents to keep in touch with us
Thanks

Have you checked your on-line account to see exactly what you ordered and what they confirmed. Being "fairly sure", isn't quite the same as getting written confirmation from the supplier.
I've got Vodafone fibre and the the phone works, plugged into the router. Same number, and everything works just the way it used to as does the DECT phone/answering machine. It was all up and working the instant that I connected the router to the ONT.

Did you opt to keep the number ???0

What is the make and model of the handset you are plugging into the router?0

Thanks guys. Been in touch with Vodafone and they're going to send me an adapter. My guess is the rj11 cable I used isn't correct. It was the old DSL cable I tried to use
At least I got them to confirm that VoIP is activated on the account.
The phone is a Panasonic kx-tg6821e.0 -
Sorry, I forgot, you do need an adapter like this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/RJ11-BT-Telephone-Adapter-Male/dp/B07BH1177Z or a cable with an rj-11 at both ends like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/rj11-cable/s?k=rj11+to+rj11+cable
as I already had them it didn't occur to me that VF didn't provide them with the router, which is daft reallyNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
The Vodafone THG3000 router thats provided with the installation from the ONT box comes with an RJ11 adaptor for the router POTs port.
Logging into the router management shows VOIPxxxxx or something off the top of my head on the status page if you have active voice service.

Adapter arrived this morning via DPD, top service from Vodafone there. Heart sank when it didn't work when I plugged it in but I did a full reset on the router and pleased to say that we've got a working (and a better quality) landline.
Thanks again1 -
I'm tempted to switch to Vodafone FTTP myself. Their landline plans are somewhat confusing and seem to only refer to outgoing calls. Do you know if there's a monthly charge for the landline if only used for incoming calls?Stompa0

AFAIK there is no extra charge for incoming calls, so assuming that they've transferred your number then all incomers are free.
Out going calls are charged at unit rates as shown on VF's T&C's unless you pay for a package. Unlimited off peak (evenings and weekends are £4 a month, Unlimited anytime are £8 month).
Have a look here for charges - https://www.vodafone.co.uk/cs/groups/configfiles/documents/document/vfcon118097.pdf
We 've been paying around £8 a month for unlimited anytime calls but as that will go up in April with the CP!+3.9% increase I'll probably give that up when our contract ends in Jan 2024 and just use our mobiles for outgoing calls.
Up to recently we've both been on Paygo with our mobiles as we don't use them all that much (around £25 a year until Three cranked up their charges). However I've now got a monthly SIM with Smarty which is only £6 a month for unlimited calls, texts and 6Gbit/s of data (which I dont use) it works out cheaper than VF's anytime package and I should still get free incoming on the home phone.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -
