Another hour sat staring at 2 tarantulas who refused to move. I hope this means the male was successful the other week. I did sew a hole in a t-shirt sleeve while sitting there, so not wholey wasted time.
Bf did the dishes.
Last nights air fryer banana bread was probably a 7/10. Soft (but not raw) in the middle. I think next attempt I will try lower for longer.
I need to ring the pet insurance tomorrow to tell them their increase is stupid and I'm going elsewhere. I also need to ring the vets to book in pups vaccinations.

Glad to see some things are coming together for many of you; don't panic to those of you who are still......in a panic.
I'm gradually working down my list. Yesterday:
- went to festive zumba, coffee with zumba mates
- bought flowers for next batch of present arrangements
- got Christmas hair....
- had coffee and exchanged presents with a friend in a garden centre. Wandered round and got a couple of things.
- did more report writing
- soaked oasis for impending arrangements
- double checked lists and menu
- did a bit of drum practice
today:
- picked foliage
- went for a gym swim and coffee
- dropped into Matal&n which is opposite gym and got a couple of bits
- dropped into C00p for this week's offers. Handily parked next to a snowberry hedge and snipped off a few berries for arranging
- did one and a half arrangements
- rang garage to book in the car for a wash tomorrow; we get a free one each month on our service plan
- took the completed one round to friend, who seemed pleased with it.
- cooking marathon with my able sous chef Mr N; 2 Xmas puddings still steaming; a lasagne to freeze for Friday; leftover bolognese mix in a tub, labelled ready to freeze; one lemon cake made for visiting friends tomorrow.
- checked that I'd cancelled milk (I had)
- checked items for Mum's Xmas stocking (our tradition is that whoever hosts does little stockings for anyone staying the night...so she has done ours).
- re checked the list and menu. Lots of satisfying ticks today.
- set up zoom meeting for Christmas eve with my family and our friends in Australia
The plan for the rest of the evening is maybe to finish the 'half' arrangement, hopefully to do more of a report.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
I have finished my mothers christmas shopping (or childish mad shopping as my crayz phone autoincorrected it to!)
I am going to finish knitting a mitten and going to bed so I can hoof OH out of bed in the morning bright and early so we can drop mattresses at DD1's and collect all the stuff for CS from her.. I will get her house sorted before mine!!
I need to sort all the girls clothes.. and I really wish I could afford to just send the boxes of V!nted stuff to CS rather than having to try to sell it.. it is quite time consuming, space filling and takes forever!!!
DW needs filling the last bit so I will do that in a sec..
I REALLY need a shower but the bathroom is full of moomins crappage and the shower isn't usable.. I am considering taking the leak and getting it in anyway just to be clean!

I’m not caught up but…
sheets on line *lightened* ie less wet than they were, so have been ironed and stuck on maiden. Bits of tidying done, DW emptied, shed freezer emptied and switched off so now defrosting. Have been out and pulled most of ice out and thrown on garden, there’s a towel in there to catch the last bit when it melts.Various phone calls to and from hospital depts decluttered…I haven’t received notifications about the appointments I should have Thursday and Friday BUTi now know the routine so I have rung to check.
decluttered bits from hamper to DDs friend including coolbag because DD and I both have one already. And I’m fairly sure DS got one too.
I have 3 sample pots of paint - the brand with the sheepdog. Practically full. Am happy to name shades and post out if anyone wants to try them.Bathroom handbasin wiped.
Fayolle - you must feel so relieved…as must DD.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Morning all. Hope you're all ok today.
I'm up early as it's back to paid stuff today. Flexitime so I may start really early and get it out out the way. Feeling much better, maybe 7/10!
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.12 -
Morning all.
An exciting line-up of jobs to do today:
- now that we've eaten most of the hm ready meals, ask DH to move the frozen turkey crown (to be eaten sometime in the New Year, when I can lift it unaided!) from the kitchen to the utility, so that I have a bit more space to sort out the stuff in the kitchen freezer
- meal plan to take us through the weekend
- write a shopping list for DS1
- clean the toaster so that it can be put away in the cupboard (but only temporarily: if my grand plan works out as I hope, it will find its way to the CS within a month) and clear that corner of the worktop for my present to us.
- wrap up the last three gifts for other people
- water the houseplants, including the enormous (= cumbersome) basket of flowers that my friend J sent me in November - how I've managed to keep that alive for the past month, I don't know!
- visit the nurse at the GP surgery for a wound check.
I should be able to manage that, with a bit of help.
Hope everyone has a good day xxx
ETA:
BTW, The Minimal Mom has a put up an excellent short video about feeling overwhelmed, prioritizing tasks and dealing with frogs, if anyone needs inspiration for the new year.10 -
I will be watching the Minimal Mom video asap as I'm defo feeling overwhelmed at the moment. For those of us who watch a lot of 'How to' videos this one is about how to fold fitted sheets. The language is extreme, so for those of a nervous disposition please avoid it - I don't want to offend anyone or cause any of my Flylady friends to have an attack of the vapours so close to Christmas, but it made me cry with laughter so I thought it might appeal to some.Today I will do something about Christmas cards, ice the Christmas cake and find a really important bit of paper I lost at some point between Monday and last night.Better is good enough.10

Good mornin' everyone
Thanks for the link @ionafan - I'll have a look at that later. I've certainly got that "overwhelm / on the never-ending merry-go-round feeling" this morning. Part of that is slowly starting to realise (and come to terms with the fact) that I just cannot achieve everything that I used to do in a day when I was younger. That said - this old lass can still fly when needed.
This morning:
Bed made
General tidy-up - how 2 people can make so much mess between 6pm and 7am, I'll never know
WUDUPA
Yesterday's washing in TD - yes I forgot (???) to put it in yesterday. Short-term memory problems anyone???
Daily financials and emails checked.
Yesterday, dealt with one humungous admin frog yesterday - spent 4 hours identifying an error in our gas bill, finding evidence and sending it back to our supplier. £270!! - how can they get it so wrong is beyond me!! People can't afford it - rant over.
Also, started one lesser frog yesterday - I swear, I spend 2-3x more time on household admin than I did 30 years ago.
Have a good day everyone, Thriftyxxx

ROTFL --> coughing --> pain, but oh so worth it!
Glad to be of help, HB and thriftyscotslass xx
Flying report:
- The turkey turned out to be a whole bird, not just a crown, and is now safely ensconced in its new temporary home.
I've updated the freezer lists by hand - now I'll update and print out the typed versions (only 1/2 side of A4 for each freezer, so not exactly extravagant) and replace in the door of the fridge above. Helps me to see at a glance what I've got hiding in the depths. Last time I did this BS (= Before Surgery), I found a tub of frozen cranberries leftover from last Christmas, and this week the NT posted this recipe for orange cranberry and almond cake which my vegan DDiL1 will probably enjoy too, so that's another thing on the list for January.10
