Prescription Delivery Service

Although he enjoyed the job he travelled miles in the average day, albeit in the chemists van. Seems that many folk lived absolutely miles away but their GP didnt have a linked delivery so they used the chemist that their mum/sister/friend used and so had their prescriptions sent there.1 -

re the controlled drugs - we had to state in the register who had been issued them and also that ID was seen - most of the people were well known to us so just signed it off as "known to me" etc - I always had to have ID if collecting meds in the OOHs job though many accepted that I had just clambered out of a stripy car with the word "DOCTOR" on the side of it0 -
I think the service depends on availability where you live. I have a fluctuating illness and can not always collect my prescription. A nurse arranged for me to get a weekly delivery at a stage when I was very ill. The waiting list in my village was 13 months. She managed to organise a delivery from a pharmacy five miles away. It has mostly been okay. The delivery times are quite erratic varying from early morning until about 7 pm in the evening. I was able to sign a form enabling them to put it through the letter box.
My daughter lives 160 miles away in a city. When she needed a regular delivery due to loss of mobility, the pharmacist was able to start the service the same day. I phoned them at 11 am to enquire and by 1pm they had done the first delivery.1 -
I have decided to use Pharmacy2u and have been quite happy with them. Occasionally there is a delay with one medication (carbamazepine) which there is a national shortage of at the moment. But they give me the option to deliver all other meds and wait for them to get stock. Or i could collect from another pharmacy but they normally have the same problem with carbamazepine. I normally order meds early and have enough stock to allow for a weeks delay if needed. Apart from this national shortage problem i have found pharmancy2u to be very good. They send royal mail and i get an email from royal mail giving a delivery day and time2

Last time I looked pharmacy2u were the biggest based upon revenue and that was before they took over Lloyds Pharmacy who were second using the same metric. Their Trustpilot reviews are 4.6 and 4.7 respectively. They are obviously an attractive proposition but I do like Chemist4U who have a 4.8 rating albeit with only a fraction of the ratings of the other two. What is the deal breaker is that one can login to their site through the NHS app which is very convenient but I am not sure if that is exclusive to Chemist4U. Could someone kindly clarify that for me please?{Signature removed by Forum Team - if you are not sure why we have removed your signature please contact the Forum Team}

This is an interesting post.
i have been taking a controlled substance for years. I’ve never been asked to sign anything. It could be that I am known to the staff, I collect my meds from a small branch of Boots in a very small town. My OH often collects my meds and he’s never been asked to sign. Whenever he meets new people they always remember him1
