I use Lloyds on-line (free) and have had no problems, even during postal strikes.
    It's not difficult!

  • I use a local independent pharmacy and they are brilliant, I used Lloyds for years for both me and my dad but they wanted to charge for deliveries during lockdown so I went elsewhere! The new one has never let me down yet!

I use pharmacy2u. The service is generally good. Frustrating that lately they're usually grossly oversized packaging for my medications that would otherwise comfortably fit through letterbox. Their reminder service is a pain in the rear rather than helpful I find - spend my time trying to delete the things. But they've been pretty flawless in sending prescriptions as my nominated pharmacy.

My mother always found Boots to be good. But like everywhere, it varies on branch.

As others, ring round other local pharmacy & see if they do.
Boots started charging for the delivery of prescriptions, I think it was 2019, the price was £5 per month or £55 for a years delivery, so I cancelled the delivery service and now email the request in and they send it to a local Boots less than 0.7 miles from me, I pop on my mobility scooter and collect the prescription myself, it gets me out of the flat for a while.
Someone please tell me what money is

First of all thank you to BACKTOBACK for starting this conversation, thank you.

I am looking to find a reliable delivery service for my other half's repeat prescriptions for her epilepsy medications. As a member of Which Magazine I cannot see any reviews from them so thought I would pop in here and ask the community for their opinions.

There appears to be quite a few firms in the market with the biggest ones being Pharmacy2u, Lloyds Pharmacy, Chemists 4 U, UK Meds and Direct Pharmacy.

I think an important criteria - other than regulatory compliance - for choosing one would be a firm that packages everything in packages that can fit through a standard size letterbox so one does not need to be in to take delivery. However, perhaps they all do that otherwise they would lose out to those that do?

I would be grateful for any recommendations and/or any to stay clear of.

there are a  few online ones in the business. The local ones will always be looking at the costs / benefits of doing deliveries - they seem to be very busy these days and probably have no need to attract extra business (which is basically why they do the deliveries) - they don't get any more money if they deliver, it all comes out of the per item dispensing fee

Is it possible that for some drugs, a signature will be required? I don't know if this would apply to anti-seizure medication, but would be worth checking ...

I can only go back to what I said much earlier in the thread. Individual local pharmacies provide a very variable service, in my experience. AFAIK our local pharmacy continues to do a good job of the deliveries we managed to arrange during Covid, but I wouldn't recommend their in-person service, you're often waiting over half an hour to be asked what you're there for! They are run off their feet.
Signature removed for peace of mind

the drugs that require a signature / ID are "controlled drugs" of assorted schedules  - mainly opiates and amphetamines - anti seizure medication should be OK.
