Great to see your update, I've been wondering how you were and if everything was alright. It looks like your debt free journey is going the right way, good luck with your plans to clear it.

  • Thank you @Baileys_Babe it is nice to know that someone is following along. I will 100% be more consistant from now on.
Today has been an 11 hour day in work. I'm not really too keen on the new job but I have to suck it up for the time being. I just don't have the time to look for new jobs at the moment and also I'm just not a serial job changer so I don't know what to do, but not sure I can last this to retirement. Hold my nerve though and see how it goes!!

Sorry to hear about the job. I don't know how long you have to go until retirement. Is it worth even thinking about whether to look for a new is put on the back burner for a set amount of time (3 months, 2 years or whatever works for you) then you review it and decide how you feel then. In the meantime you can concentrate on the areas of your life you enjoy or make changes so you enjoy more areas.

  • Thats good advice, retirement is at least 23 years away, I suppose its a long time to be miserable.

I've been to work today, trading hours are short on a Sunday so the day doesn't seem that long. We walked the dog when I got home, I have the 'dog' car, so DH can't walk her while I'm not in. Since November last year we have struggled to walk her, she's developed a massive fear, we think its of loud cars. We step out the front door and can turn right off the drive to go to my mothers, she practically runs the entire way. Try and turn left and she freezes and starts shaking. She will walk if we drive to the park but even then shes a little anxious. Its so sad to see her and she used to love her walks.

This evening we treated ourselves to an indian, we've put all the petrol in the cars we need this month and there was still £65 left in the budget. It took an age to come so I've been sat on Prolific doing some surveys. I've had around £12's worth.

Work again in the morning but I only have a 5.5 hour day so its not too bad.

    Have a lovely bank holiday!!

  • A long awaited day off today, its been completely unproductive so far but I hope to change that as soon as I've finished writing this post.

The plan for this afternoon is to list a pile of stuff on Vinted/ Ebay/ Marketplace. Whichever platform seems to fit best. I've been saying I'll do this for ages but I never get round to it but my recent motivation means I WILL do it today. Theres not a lot, probably no more than £50 worth but its better than nothing. I'm torn about selling my Nintendo Switch, bought on a whim when I got a bit competitive with my at the time 6 year old nephew but I haven't picked it up in over a year now.

I've taken a look through my May budget and we have done well, theres about £7 of overspending to cover so I'm happy with that. I also added up the remaining debt that I haven't done in a while and it stands at £40,067. Another £67 and it will be officially in the £30k bracket. A long way to go but to think only 18 months ago it stood at £66k, I'll take that.

Well enough procrastinating. Time to get selling!!

That's great progress, well done. Hope the selling went/goes well, it can get rather tedious but a few quid here and there all adds up!
  • I've had my first Vinted sale tonight. its really not a lot but it all adds up!!

  • Good morning everyone!!
Today is mine and DH payday, so I've been up early organising my YNAB. Its crazy how quickly the money just goes!! All money is assigned and I was left with £412.54 to pay towards the kitchen. I'm really pleased with that as it means all the money from the 2nd income can go towards debt when I get paid on Monday. It will be a lot less this month due to the fact I took a couple of weeks off it to go to Florida and they've cut my work since I got back.

Other income I can add towards the debt this month will be:
    Interest from Savings- £180
Prolific- £100 (it's been very good to be since I returned from holidays)
Regular Savings account set to mature- £158
Nationwide members bonus- £200 (both me and DH qualify)
Nationwide switch for existing customers- £400 (we will both do this)

I'm very pleased with this, all in all I should be able to pay an extra £2000 off the kitchen.

I have to keep my eye on the savings accounts interest. Once we have both exhausted our tax free limit all saving will be moved into an ISA.

The plan for today is to get some washing done, I just need this weather to fine up a little. I have one mystery shop to do, list a couple more things on Vinted and get the house cleaned.

Hope everyone has a great day!!
