  • And that's a wrap!! One door closes and another door opens. I really can't wait to start the next chapter.

I've had a little taster today of what 'normal' life will be like again. I've been shopping, got dinner ready for tonight and made a spicy butternut squash soup for lunches for the weekend. I did want to get out and have a walk but time time has gotten away with me.

I had some good news about my second job, they were having a bit of a restructure and were cutting work from people but I ended up quite luckey and I won't be losing out at all financially. I have been really worried about this over the past couple of weeks. Its not something I want to carry on do long term but want to hold onto it long enough to pay the debt off.

Think I may just cash out from Prolific, its been pretty quiet today so that will be another £23.31 towards the debt.

February is really feeling more positive than January.

  • Today has been a bit of a spendy day. I bought a couple of pairs of trousers and new shoes ready to start my new job on Monday. I will just take this from my redundancy money when its paid on Thursday. I will certainly look rich for a couple of minutes on Thursday until its all sent to where it needs to go. I have also had to buy dog food, that was a bargain, not only was it on offer but it had 2kg free so that bag should last her close to 6 months. I also did a small weekly shop. Everything we needed for £38 so grocery budget is well on track for this week. I have 2 mystery shops next weekend where I get reimbursed £15 each for groceries so should be able to get all the weekends food from that.

The plan is to just take it easy this afternoon, DH has the six nations on again, it will be a long afternoon!! I would go elsewhere but the fire is on and all the other rooms are cold and I am trying not to put the heating on, our DD has already gone up twice in the last couple of months.

After a quiet day on Prolific yesterday, as soon as I cashed out the surveys started flowing and I know have £4.48 payable but short of the £5 payout. DH also has an app with work that you do quests on each day, he can't be bothered with it but me being the money obessed person I am signed into it on my phone and I have already got £20 of Starbucks vouchers. These can be used anywhere in the world so I'm saving them for when we go to Disney in April.

I think thats everything. Have a great day everyone.

  • Good morning everyone. It's going to be a slow one for me, I had a few too many wines last night and I'm feeling it a little today. Don't know why I do it when I have so much to do the next day. I have told my mother to come down for 9:30 and we are going to walk the dog. Its been a horrible week and she needs a good run off lead. I can tell she's got a lot of energy as she had the zoomies at 6:30am!!!
I'm also going to make some pasta to take away with me for work this week. I'm thinking they must have a fridge somewhere and not only do I not want to buy my lunch, I'm not even sure there's anything around.
I paid £200 off my CC last night. There is still £6621 on there and £400 of that is on a 0% rate that ends the 8th March. The rest is 0% until September, so I need to get that £400 paid off in the next few weeks.

Does anyone watch neighbours? Its the only soap I watch, I caught up last night, I was in bits, sobbing away. No spoilers just in case!!

  • So thats the first day done and dusted, it went well. A lot of information to take in as there is in any job when you first start but I enjoyed it. I haven't stopped all day and I've had nothing to eat, I got back to the hotel to find I can't get into the restaurant until 7:45pm. Food will have to wait I suppose!!
I managed to drive the big old Tuscon the 100 miles, just fine. I've been really worried about it as I'm not used to such a big car anymore. Its really not very good on fuel so we may have to look at that changing that early.

I will have a better idea of where I stand financially when the redundancy money comes in this week. I'm really hoping theres enough left over so that I can nearly pay the sainsbury's card off but somehow I don't think it will be. Time will tell, but I think it will fall a little short.

  • Good morning.....A late start for me today, I don't have to go to work till 12:30 which is quite alien to me these days and I don't really know what to do with myself especially as I'm in a hotel room.
Today is payday, bit not just any payday, my redundancy payment was included. We used £5000 of it for a car deposit, the rest is going towards the CC, however as the credit card is interest free until September, I am going to put it in savings to earn some interest until it has to be paid. I have no concerns that I will dip into it as my attitude towards money has changed so much over the last 18 months. If I can't afford it, I don't have it. I am staying away this week with one of my new colleagues and she was telling me last night that she only has £1.86 to her name. I can't imagine living that way, although I know there are many people who do.

On the note of the new job, it's going well, a lot to take in and a completely different way to what I'm used to working. I think that is going to be the biggest adjustment.

Plans for the weekend are to look into this car finance thing that Martin has been talking about. We have had 5 new PCP agreements in the timeframe that has been mentioned, surely we will have some success with at least 1 of them. Don't know unless you try I suppose!!!!
