I did a dummy test of opening the e-Regular saver on an android phone.JamesRobinson48 said:Bridlington1 said:online is about as much use as an inflatable pincushion.
I fully intend to close my online account as soon as the dust has settled, and I wouldn't wish my current Mansfield online experiences on other applicants. If you truly wish them to open your online account, 'be careful what you wish for'! So maybe the smart thing for Mansfield management is to go very slow on new online account opening, possibly even suspend that altogether, until their team has fixed any glitches and caught up with the backlog in servicing existing accounts. OTOH, would be great to hear if other online customers have had a better experience of Mansfield's online savings products lately.
They clearly haven't thoroughly tested it.
Error messages all over, the final step didn't seem to process, the signature box almost impossible to navigate and utilise, a forced log out half way through and then a vacuumous guessing game whether you've successfully applied or not.
I hope they're reading this thread.
I won't be applying again.2 -
~ 1 and a half months later, my application is still in a queue and the account remains unopened...If you want me to definitely see your reply, please tag me @forumuser7 Thank you.

Mine is unopened too if it's any consolation. We're on 20 days and counting for the online regular saver (not even received internet access for my existing regular saver yet) versus 11 days from ordering an application form to receiving my fully funded passbook for the postal version. It's remarkable, it's like dealing with two completely different building societies, one I've been quite impressed with, the other quite appalled by.ForumUser7 said:~ 1 and a half months later, my application is still in a queue and the account remains unopened...
To be honest it's looking like my Mansfield regular saver is in danger of being emptied soon anyway, regardless of their customer service. From 1st February I'll have all my easy access savings, excluding those accounts sat at minimal balances, at 3.3% or above, leaving the gap between easy access savings and the Mansfield regular saver at a mere 0.2%. If easy access rates rise much more Mansfield will need to raise their interest rates if they want to keep hold of my cash.1 -
Just received three emails from them
1. My nominated account approved
2. My account is open
3. I have a secure message
All three emails told me to log on to Mansfield Online. Only problem is that they have not sent me any details with which to log on. Rang and got through on 4th attempt only to be told that the details had not been sent out.
Applied online for regular saver on14th Jan so the wait has not been as long as others1 -
Are you an existing customer please? Just trying to figure out how yours has been opened after 10 days, but @bridlington1's and mine are still unopened - I kind of assumed they'd work in date orderMalchester said:Just received three emails from them

No not an existing customer. This is my first ever account with them. Just been told I should get User ID and activation key tomorrow (posted first class today) then I can get on line (have already registered as part of online application process). I was attracted to the account because it is ongoing, unlike most other regular savers.ForumUser7 said:

I have been a customer of Mansfield BS for 4 months myself, though not an existing online customer.ForumUser7 said:

I've just registered for online banking again, this time adding both the details for the regular saver (opened in September) and the tracker 90 account I opened 2 weeks ago so will see what happens.

I think I have learnt from this experience (and elsewhere) that I should keep accounts open with the minimum amount in rather than closing them (which is what I have done in the past) so that future account openings are much easier and quicker. Opened accounts with Yorkshire BS and Coventry BS recently, they took ages, especially Coventry. But then, when set up I opened another account with each and it was done and dusted in a couple of minutes. Lesson learnt1

Agreed. Plus they will quite often raise the interest rate after the product has been withdrawn or restricted the opening. SRBS did this with their regular saver not so long back for example.Malchester said:I think I have learnt from this experience (and elsewhere) that I should keep accounts open with the minimum amount in rather than closing them (which is what I have done in the past) so that future account openings are much easier and quicker. My experience with Mansfield is as follows -A week before Christmas applied online for the base tracker esaver (apparently was NLA quickly thereafter). This was opened and login setup just before New Year. No prob.I follow the instruction to make the initial payment, but it doesn't show up in the account. Waited a few days and messaged them, then it was finally processed.Next I apply for the Reg Saver (early Jan). I get an email effectively saying they're swamped and expect delay. After 2.5 weeks I message them for the status. They say all is fine, it's should be opened tomorrow. So the next day I check and a second account is showing.. but strangely it's the same tracker account as I already have.I message them and the reply was 'sorry, it will be swapped within a few days' (Where I'm at currently). Not a great time to be applying with them it seems.2
