My new online RS account with the Mansfield has been up and running since last week. I found it sufficient to prompt them with a secure message.
That’s good to hear! Unfortunately I cannot send a secure message as I am not an existing customer - so I tried other methods such as calls and emails but they just don’t reply. I’m hoping the complaint will act as a prompt.

Just want to say they have a contact form on their website where you can email them.  I used it before Christmas to request a savings application form and was very pleasantly surprised to receive it in the post the following day which was the Friday before Christmas.  Put back in the post on the Saturday (New Years Eve) hopefully they received it yesterday (Tuesday) and will action in the next few days.

@ForumUser7 thanks for creating this thread.

It prompted me to check their website and discover that they've removed some of the restrictions on opening accounts, resulting in me now being eligible for the online-only version of their regular saver, which I've just applied for. Originally the account was open to existing members with at least one year’s continuous membership or a local resident of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire or South Yorkshire, now it's open to all who are aged 16 or over. Originally I'd have had to wait till September 2023 to get this account. Plus they've doubled the maximum monthly deposit on both regular savers to £500.

To be fair to them they were alright when opening the postal version of the regular saver back in September. I've found their online form is quite quick. When I sent them a message using the web-form requesting an application pack in September they sent me an email from the Sutton branch about an hour later telling me an application pack was on its way. It arrived the next day. 8 days later they
rang me to say they were about to cash the cheque for my initial deposit and the account would be opened from that point. I had the passbook 2 days later.

Thanks @growingold - I saw the form, but there was an email address just above it. Perhaps the form ensures a reply - I'll give it a few days for them to acknowledge my complaint, and if not I'll try the form. Thank you again for letting me know.

Thanks @bridlington1 It seems the web-form is the way to go, not their email address (even though it states it is an alternative, and is just above the form!

From what I can gather the form just sends an email, which is answered by whichever branch reads the email first. The only real difference is that if you send them an actual email (i.e. from a personal email address), there's a good chance it could end up in a junk email folder at their end and hence goes unnoticed and unanswered. The online form on the other hand ensures the message gets read as it will come up as being from a "safe sender".

@bridlington1 were you able to register to view and manage the passbook accounts on their online portal once opened please, or is it truly just branch/post? Thanks

I don't know yet. I received an email this morning telling me I would receive my user ID and activation code in the post within the next 3 working days.

My gut instinct is that I should be able to, given that I opened an account with Darlington BS earlier this year, which was branch/post only and when I registered for online banking a month later, the postal account appeared in online banking. Same thing happened with the Monmouthshire easy saver that I opened with £1 back in September.

I shall keep you updated with developments

    Thank you!

I had my complaint I sent in yesterday acknowledged today, so hopefully my application will be done (or I’ll at least get an update on it) soon.

You will be able to view your passbook accounts (I don't have any "online" accounts with them but have the old RS accounts (Closed issues) and can view them.

However, it is NOT possible to withdraw from them to your nominated bank account online, you can only "transact" online with accounts that are "online only".

I was told this meant accounts that began with '30', but that was a while ago, so there may be other account prefixes by now.
