@~flowerpot~ I am coeliac and once he gets used to it ,it’s quite easy. Just as an aside to that if someone in the family has it it’s a 1 in 10 chance of other family members having it, quite a lot of us got tested and a few of us all were. It’s autoimmune so may get other autoimmune diseases in future.
I would say be aware of cross contamination, have own toaster ,butter, jams etc. Also a lot of things can be gluten free that are not in the free from aisle/marked on the front. Check the box for things written in bold and avoid wheat, rye, and barley. Also the may contain box.
Cakes can be made using GF flour in same style as normal, use GF baking powder. I love M and S tempura chicken tenders, and spring rolls, spiced iced buns too.
If he goes to church then communion wafers are Not GF but can ask and the church can provide them.
Any questions just ask..Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.15 -
Love the cat pictures - they just love a box to sit in. A rather nice dark ginger has been visiting our front garden recently - think he must be new to the area.
I managed to get a second load of pruning to tip yesterday. Glad I did it as it started to rain heavily once I got it in car. Lovely worker at tip took most of it out of the car and into skip for me. Supper out with quiz was good fun. Congrats on birthdays and anniversaries all round. Will try and tackle some of the 5 frogs left from my list of 10.

Feeling anxious this morning as my parents are visiting and always seem to bring a whole cars worth of junk with them. Irritatingly when I ask for things I actually want for the kids that are in their loft they don’t actually bring those or can’t find them 🙄. It takes weeks for me to deal with what they bring up and actually I still have a small pile from last time. Fingers crossed they don’t bring much as they haven’t mentioned anything 🤞
On the plus side, my glass jars arrived to sort out my cupboards and came with a huge amount of bubble wrap. It seemed such a waste to throw it and so I frivolously bunged it on Buy Nothing last night. 30 mins later someone was asking for bubble wrap and various people pointed to my post. They are collecting this morning and my guilt on wasting things is removed!
I shall not be working silly hours at work anymore, partly because I don’t need to, but also because I don’t see why I should if they are going to be difficult and I now need time to find something else. Hoping that means I can make small inroads into various projects that need dealing with, which is usually why I have some stuff lying around. Freezer and cupboards in the kitchen are still high up on the list and I really need to start integrating the new jars. It’s just slow when you are using things up first. DH is really irritating me as he is using the new dishwasher powder and leaving less than one use in the old box so I can’t count it as a use up! This is another cupboard I am slowly using up duplicates to and whittling down to the essentials.33,405-33,411 - packaging (buy nothing)

Morning folks. Sunday is usually my longest clean/declutter day as its just me and junior flamingo. I can't believe it is October already! I have a lot coming up this month, so really need to get on with things.
Aims for October
First half: finish decluttering
Set up smart plugs
Hang some artwork
Measure up letterbox for replacement
get curtains washed
defluff, bleed and test radiators
make packing lists for Oxford (1 overnight for half marathon on 14th/15th and Disneyland (4 overnights the following week).
Depending on what baggage type we're taking, maybe purge the xmas stuff that lives in our biggest suitcase in the loft
Tip run
charity shop run
Clean out the car and top up air/oil/screenwash (May go on Mr Flamingo's list instead)
Start watching what I eat more so my Xmas dress fits more comfortably this year.
Second half: Trips!
Make contact with charity shops about volunteering
Unpack
move to winter curtains
get garden all chopped up and disposed off finish the purge of junior flamingos toys
Plan with family re: trick or treating
Fortunately September was so productive with decluttering and reorganising that these big tasks seem much less daunting. Today's focus is my hallway, time to swap the summer hats and accessories for winter ones, a cupboard to organise, and my most hated job of wall and skirting washing!
I hope everyone's day is as peaceful or productive as they hope forMarried 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

DH was up about 14:30 on Saturday having stayed up to watch the qualifying. My beautiful flowers did find their way into a vase. No present for DH just a cheeky card stating how lucky he was to have me as his wife 🤣 The rest of Saturday afternoon was spent watching Silent Witness. Although I did deal with a couple of pieces of post. Dinner was steak (cooked by DH), oven chips, fried onions & mushrooms, roasted tomatoes + garden peas 🤤 Wudupa. The cake DSis baked was delicious 😋 P.S she did change it to “31 years” 😉

😱 what happened to September 😱 Sunday 1st October already 😥 Duller day today & no sign of any sunshine 😔 Maybe I missed it as I only got up at 11:30 🙊 DH stayed up all night to watch the MotoGP races so will probably not stir until mid afternoon 😉 Just chatted to our recently retired neighbour J who kindly offered to take our overflow recycling bags to the recycling centre as he was taking his own bags 😊 He not only took 2 bags for us but also 2 bags for neighbour D & judging by how full his car boot was he also picked up a couple of bags from other neighbours 😇
I will post this & come back later to cheerlead - once I am fully awake 😅

I felt a little better on Friday so managed to get out on my walk - it was lovely to be in the Kent Countryside on such a gorgeous day - walking through orchards, views across the Weald . I got quite tired out though so spent yesterday resting with some studying thrown in... Today I felt awful again - An hour ago I started sneezing like mad so I actually think I've just got a bad cold which has not properly come out. Did a Covid test but negative. So I cancelled everything for today and will be resting.
Tasks:
Took some stuff back to TK Maxx
Bought new household insurance (£160 cheaper than the renewal price)IN (running total 174)

545. A wastepaper bin full of receipts, leaflets etc
556. Spare insoles

Struggling to get going here. My favourite neighbours are moving out today after 9 years and I'm feeling melancholy about it. I know they'll be happier where they are going, but I hate change and they were the only ones we were very friendly with. We saw through lockdowns together, and our kids getting older. Ho hum, such is life. Maybe the future ones will be even lovelier.
I've lined the hall drawers with dryer sheets ready for the winter woolies washed earlier in the week to go in, school uniform ironed.
+3 birthday cards recycled, +4 old flannels to go to my sister for rags, +1 plastic tub said rags were in for recycling.Married 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

@~FlowerPot~
Diagnosed coeliac 2018.
Biggest issue is cross contamination from gluten containing foods as someone diagnosed with coeliac can't have the tiniest bit of gluten - the whole family needs to be on board with this.
Check the labels on everything for recipe changes and they should always carry snacks.
Coeliac UK have a very useful site and publicise when companies have fouled up and there is gluten where it shouldn't be.
Chain restaurants are now your best bet as they can accommodate all types of diet.
Sadly, popping out for a chippy tea is now off the menu for them due to cross contamination from the oil when it's been used for battered products. Unless, of course, it's somewhere that has gluten free sessions...
It's a lot easier to be coeliac than it used to be - I think Scotland is the only place you can get gluten free food on prescription these days? - and the main thing will be changes in texture of baked goods.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.
