It’s so good to hear of what you are all doing.Despite being tempted by various other untidy areas, I stayed focused on the one corner of the bedroom. It is done but was much tougher than I had anticipated. I found a bag that was full of all kinds of stuff that I really didn’t want to be dealing with at all; that’s why it had been untouched for years! I have sorted, filed, recycled and binned until the bag was empty. It left me feeling low rather than satisfied but it will be a relief overall. I hung up the pile of clean summer clothing without ironing it, just to get it put away. A load of old receipts went on the fire tonight too.
Tomorrow I intend to go through a small box of toiletries as I shall be out most of the day.18 -

First day back to work after the New Year, decluttered my locker, yay! Might have brought some of it home, boo!
Put 2 old calenders and 3 pamphlets into the recycling, not sure why I was keeping them!
Shredded 27 pieces of unwanted paperwork
I know it's not much but it's a start
I would like to thank Mrs SD and everyone here for making it feel so welcoming and for offering advice and encouragement without being judgemental.

Turns out pool person came today because of rain yesterday - more rain for the next couple of days. Have flash flood warnings for part of my county, though not near where I live. So husky back in. Roommate who brought her home has finally agreed he can't take care of her physically or financially, but hard to find a home for her. We will be trying.
21 - started new classes at another community college today - two at each college now. Two PowerPoint classes, one Office class, and 1 on Internet Research. All just for fun. All on-line still - zoom class this morning. Had to turn off picture as cat kept getting in the way.
22 - talked to doctor on phone rather than trying to drive to office in the rain. Yep - torn rotator cuff. If want it totally repaired will need to have reconstructive surgery. First comment on site - after six weeks, you might be able to start driving again. Oh dear. We are going to do more therapy classes first and see if I can live with it. I did the first time around (same shoulder in 1980). Semi-healed but obviously not enough.
23- made "poached eggs" in microwave - just cracked open two eggs into bowl, cooked 1 minute, with plate over the top. added diced veggies and ham. Then heated for another minute. Worked. Did it twice and took one up to roommate who is too wobbly to come down (drinking too much). Never tried it before.

Thanks for the 🏅 for DH @Mrs_Salad_Dodger . He is very pleased.
Also, blushes, a halo 😇
I shall polish it intermittently.
Worn out after the driving and childcare over the last few days so had a lie in then visited a friend for lunch, another to pick up some shoes for MiL and then to DS1 for a quick catchup.
On the final leg of sorting the in laws out for their cruise. They have all the essentials now. I just want their paperwork in print, a lot of pages, because I know that internet access can be hit and miss.
I did a little bit of sorting this morning. I gathered a bag of wool for my nieces and gathered all the used Christmas wrapping I have kept for reuse, including bags and bottle bags of which I have a lot. I am thinking about fundraising at Christmas next year. My MiL does a stall at the local church. usually pickles and jams. She didn't do sowell with those last year so we are going to make up gift bags full of goodies we already have or will make. Maybe pamper packs.
Now off to find a book for MiL to use on holiday to record her trip.Wife, mother, gardener, nurse, Big C survivor. Just caught up with posts @GrannyKate I agree about letters, I've friends who pour over their parents diaries and letters. My mum asked me to write something using some of her stories and diaries, but I know she had some down times, and difficulties with other things and I don't think it's for grandchildren to read. DB has been sharing with his kids but I feel odd about that. Definitely getting rid of mine. Feel things should be burned rather than put in recycling or shredded but unsure if you're allowed to have bonfires now.
3-4 opened bottles of white wine to neighbours as I don't drink it (left from NYE and friends wouldn't take home so left in fridge)
5 DVD player from dad's posted to someone
6 left over food sadly binned
7 Gas engineer been, and call made to find new provider as BG v expensive not found yet
Looking forward to a few weeks time when DDs will have decluttered mocks and uni exams/assignments.
Is it tomorrow or Friday that we have to take xmas things down? hoping Friday as have a day off work to hopefully declutter abit.
So much going on here.. and interesting to hear different approaches.17 -
Slow and steady here but progress being made. Mainly cardboard and paper but it’s still out rather than in. Trying to use up stocks from Christmas to give a little more space.Going to gather inherited treasures/rubbish and send to auction to sell, l did this last year and the money we made took the family out for a meal. I get attached to other peoples things but lve got enough of my own to get rid of without adding to it. We have some of my mother’s jewellery from when she died 12 years ago none of us wants it so we are going to weight it in and have a piece of jewellery made that we will wear and remember her by.Count down to retirement 202317

My porch has 2 bags in it - Mr F brought them home from outside our SA hall. We will take them back round and sort the bags out tomorrow - ( we don't like to leave them them outside the hall to get wet or taken - sometimes people just rip the bags open and we have a mess to clear up ) I didn't want to go out in the cold and dark tonight - I am a key holder but Mr F isn't so needs me with him for access.
The bags are probably clothing and shoes - I sort the best for rough sleepers and some for our table top sales to raise funds for the corps - other stuff goes for recycling which we get money for.
I have a written plan for tomorrow's decluttering.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Evening. I've had a quick read through but so many pages since I last posted. Mrs SD we are both feeling a lot better, thank you. I've done the emails again today and I think the biggest majority of them are from here 🤣 I know it'll calm down a little as everyone gets back to normality. I hope your niece is okay.
Liverpool-Anne, it's definitely more smelly, whatever it is. Although we were told he was a toy poodle, it looks like he's an almost full size cross but still with the poodle fluff.
Got DS2 to college, Had a phone appointment for DD2 ASD assessment outcome, fetched a click and collect order and then DD1 arrived with GD to show us her new to her car and didn't leave until 7.30 so all I managed was to delete some emails.
DH has just messaged to say he's off Friday, bins go out again next week, he doesn't know what he's let himself in for 🤣😂
