Morning all , after not being on the forum for about 3 weeks , I’m sooooo far behind with this thread that there’s no way I can start reading all that I’ve missed , but I have been getting on with decluttering still. And my efforts have rubbed off a bit on the rest of the family too , which has been a very pleasant surprise.
I won’t write out my list of items as it’s quite a few.. 121 since my last declaration 😀 including quite a few things given away on olio , some to charity shop , a few sold on vinted. A couple of frogs have been tackled - including the new boiler was fitted yesterday- woohoo!!! 🐸
so my new total so far this year is 1020/2023
Hope everyone has a good day whatever they are up to.Word for 2023 …PROACTIVE 🧡 2023 -decluttering campaign 1020/2023 ⭐️⭐️Saving towards paying off car in November…£720/£1500 🚗17 -
3 adverts from bay were all packed up in recycled style sadly non needing any extra packaging - can't have it all. 2 were visiting declutters from parents house. Money will be spent on Jelly drops available on line only sadly. I'm not advertising - just letting people know what is out there for those who have friends/family suffering with not taking in enough fluid (which is my mother and almost blind) they are not cheap but they really do say what it says on the box. I am doing this to support sister and brother dealing with her.
Decluttered the ironing pile whilst DH slept after his ordeal with his colonoscopy. (As would anyone elseJust need to put it all away today. 3 tadpoles to deal with they really are not hard. Drop off a coat at the cleaners, bag to CS and return item for the size down.
MrsSD thanks for my medal and support of the visual ear to us all
I have also accepted quite a few free hugs as they have been needed from the rest of the gang too

@Moorviews well done in deciding against extra bookcases, most opinions when decluttering suggest against extra storage certainly until all decluttering is done as the more storage you have the more you will fill it.
E.g. Very often people think their house is too small and they need to move but in reality they just have too much stuff. Also That organization is not decluttering, but helps once decluttering is done.
Another is only keep enough to fit the space you have, which sounds strange but an example would be children’s toys if you have a toy box then only keep the amount of toys that fit in it , when new ones come in then some need to go, saving whatever is most used, loved or appropriate. Depending on the category. This also suits like with like and one in one out as the way to maintain your newly tidied home.
I applaud everyone for their efforts 👏🏻👏🏻 So many on their way to the goal.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.16 -
@weenancyinAmerica - Amersham and Chesham area is very nice - we often drove through there. My ancestors are spread far and wide but no direct ones in that area although various cousins and in-laws passed through. My great grandmother/great aunt's first marriage was to a chap whose first wife was born in Chesham in 1846. The couple had married at Amersham in 1868 and their oldest child was baptised at Chesham in 1869. My mother used to tell this romantic story of how, after his first wife died, he married mother's great aunt and they travelled 'round the world' for a honeymoon and then settled in his home county of Devon where he died less than 3 years later. The great aunt then married her sister's widower becoming my mother's grandmother as well as great aunt.
Children wanted some red nose stuff but I can't find any this morning. Sainsbury's seem to have got rid of it all.

Morning, ds had a lovely birthday yesterday and we snuggled loads 🥰.
Came down this morning and I don't know if it is just that my tolerance has adapted but the house looks worse than ever! Ds didn't get loads of things, stuff is leaving the house at least twice a week and although some stuff has come in recently (kids clothes) the house looks destroyed! Has anyone else experienced this?!
Great suggestions @wort, I am trying to implement the not too much storage rule here especially with kids toys.
Hope you all have a lovely day!2024 decluttering Campaign

Hello everyone
I had a historic decluttering moment this week at work. I sorted my pen mountain a couple of years ago and have been gradually using them up. The one I have at work has been there with me a few months. Someone asked to borrow it and a few seconds later said it had run out and was about to put it in the bin. I yelped and managed to rescue it so I could add it to my decluttering total.
It's a very special pen in that it's been in my possession since I got it from the hotel I stayed in on my first trip to New York...in 1998. I sincerely hope that is the oldest item I ever declutter.
I also went a bit mad and sped read all the remaining magazines I have. I ripped out some puzzles to do at work on my break, a few recipes went into my folder in the kitchen and I kept about 6 pages of articles I would like to read properly. That's 33 mags gone and I have no desire to ever take a magazine subscription again.
It's funny how comments made on here trigger certain memories. I think it was Mrs SD who mentioned a little used cake slice which reminded me of one I have in my kitchen drawer. I believe it was part of a cutlery set but don't recall ever using it. It's now washed up and in the cs bag.
Thank you to everyone here for all the support and interesting stories. I will post numbers later as this post is getting long.

Whilst decorating DBro’s room (he’s still in hospital however improving) we discovered his very very overfilled bookcase had broken one of the floorboards under it. I was not happy. The bookcase has now been emptied and demolished (I swear the shelves were just resting on the contents beneath it). DBro will be having a serious declutter when he returns. We have decluttered a box and a half of LVT planks by putting down new flooring in the toilet! It looks very swish. The old troublesome fridge freezer has been decluttered and replaced (so far all is good). One bag of stuff sent off in a doorstep collection this morning but some breakables kept to one side for delivering to the local charity shop this weekend. Hope everyone is happily bimbling along.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)
