@Dfw38 - if you are serious about not spending especially where the girls are concerned. I would pretend to have dropped stuff off at the CS but have other items in the bag. Then later when the time is right bring out the "new" items of HMD's and hopefully they can be happy with what they have got new.
Win, win.
Finally emptied my car of the bag of plastic recycling and a large bag of stuff to the CS. Also the jiffy bag parcel has been sent to the BC dog rescue.
Tomorrow is a potential for collection of a bit of stuff from parents house. There is some wood that will be brought back for heating.
Take care of yourselves all

On the declutter journey since 2023 with Mrs SD. Tilly Tidy since 2023.10 -
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ I have an acronym - I.R.I.S. being Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off
3. Implement a new sleep/wake up regime - start going to bed earlier (target before 2:00 a.m.) get up earlier (target by 9:00 a.m.)
4. Deal with daily mail immediately
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. If I spot a mini task deal with it immediately e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
7. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Mail has been dealt with, DSis is the one in the bath & DH has just left for his 1st walk of the day. Of the 3 items washed, the jeans are in the TD, the top is drying indoors & the coat is on the whirligig. Fingers crossed it doesn’t rain 🤞It is now 1:40 p.m. & DSis is out of the bath & the jeans in the td are dry & folded 🙂

Liverpool_Anne, Thursday sounds so lovely - it is always such a pleasure to meet up with ex-colleagues & in such a wonderful restaurant who deserve high praise for not chivvying you out the door when the evening diners started turning up 🥳 Plus well done on decluttering either side of your lunch date 👏Great cheerleading 😊
Thank you for the photo GrannyKate 👏 How glorious 😊 Great work in the garden 👏 and so well organised with your seed planting 👏 Good luck with the weight loss, hopefully a change of diet will reverse the GP’s diagnosis 🍀
Excellent decluttering Happy_Kitties 👏
Lovely cheerleading Neroli2 😊
Sorry to hear that RL is getting in the way of your decluttering fritzie-65 😉 but I am impressed that you are taking the time to think about what you have decluttered & reminding yourself that you don’t need to replace anything 👏 Very MSE 🙂
Keep up the good work mehefin 👏 The bramble frog 🐸 will be eaten soon 🙂
donna73, I like that “an oasis of calm” 😊 which we all need especially when we are on our decluttering journey 😉 So sorry to hear about your partner, such a stressful time ☹️ Good luck with the cutting down on eating processed sugar 🍀 Perhaps carrot batons would help 🤞 Well done on giving yourself some TLC both mental & physical 😊 Enjoy your time in the TLC Carriage 😊
Wednesday2000, I am a big fan of the Sort Your Life Out programme 😊 I am more likely to tackle a decluttering or cleaning task after watching Stacey & her team then watching Nick & his team 😉Excellent work in the kitchen & also tackling your toiletries 👏 one Gold Star ⭐️ is on its way. Good luck tackling your husband’s toiletries 🍀 Very MSE tackling your husband’s hair cut 👏
Liverpool_Anne, a bit of a shame that you couldn’t hand over the craft stuff & tombola items on Thursday but it sounds like your friend really needs the time away 😔 Hopefully whilst she is away she will have time to reflect on your advice/suggestions & plan a way to introduce them into her daily life without upsetting her Mum 🤞 Sending hugs her way 🙂 Hope you used the time gained from no lunch date to give yourself a bit of TLC 🤞
Florenceem, I really need to visit Lewisham market more often - usually only an afterthought when I am doing something else in Lewisham 😉 After all the journey doesn’t cost me anything seeing as I have free travel with my 60+ Oyster Card 😂
Excellent decluttering of craft supplies, SecondStar & even nicer that you know they will be used immediately 👏
Sorry to hear that DH, Dad & you have all been ill, nannywindow ☹️ but well done on spending time in the TLC Carriage whilst recovering 😊 Excellent work in both the garden & the office 👏 one medal 🏅on its way 🙂 Good luck getting to grips with your new microwave 🍀 Are you sure there isn’t an option marked ‘decluttering’ 😉 Shame about the outdoor clock but at least DH did try to repair it 🙂
coconurtaler, I hope you have managed at least some ‘you time’ on your week off 🤞Being busy and also decluttering might mean you need a holiday to recover from your time off 😉 Well done on the decluttering 👏
You are so right oceanspirit 🙂 Digital/electronic clutter is quite often more oppressive than physical clutter 😔 but also more pleasing to get rid of 😊 Excellent work getting so much of it decluttered 👏
Excellent work on the clothing decluttering Dfw38 👏 The following comment is very tongue in cheek 😛 ‘how dare your children have growth spurts’ 🥲 Sounds like your girls are growing up, not wanting hand me downs, a bit of a hit to your purse ☹️ but at least there should be no more tantrums 🤞 Good luck with your diet 🍀 All those lovely sounding clothes are a good way to spur yourself on to success 😊
Excellent decluttering Florenceem 👏
Well done on getting so much done Muddy_Walker even whilst still being poorly 👏
Brie, I had to smile at the story of the watch 😊 & your comment at being a little vague with your timekeeping 😉
plumduff55, maybe “The Joy of Decluttering” should be next years Thread title 🙂 Absolutely brilliant decluttering 👏 which is worthy of a Gold Star ⭐️ which is winging its way to you right now 😊 Very pleased to hear that you will have a friend with you when you make your foray into the loft 🙂 as your guardian angel might be visiting someone else 😉
Excellent decluttering nu1isit? 👏 one medal 🏅 is on its way 🙂 Remember that with paperwork you are eating an elephant - it cannot be done in one sitting 😉 Lots of nibbling will get the job done 😊Good luck (and a cattle prod 🤣) to get youngest DD aboard the decluttering train 🍀
Excellent decluttering QueenJess 👏
Great decluttering short_bird 👏
Having another little break, another coffee & maybe chivvy myself into paying my cc bill 🤞

Siebrie, massive hugs. It doesn’t rain but it pours. You have stress overload in a massive portion. I always comfort myself during overwhelming times with the knowledge that everything changes. Your stresses will ease, life will become easier.Hard just now but life will not always be thus. Look after yourself. Xxxxx
Well said retired in France. This thread has become so much more than decluttering. I am so grateful for it. Thank you all. X:17 -
Well I am happy to report that my cataract has been successfully decluttered ! That's both done now 🤩 - it's the 3rd eye op I've had in 18 months so I am hoping that I can put it all behind me now. 🙏
I have also decluttered DS on his travels. I was honestly doubting whether he'd get out of the house this morning. I could tell he was anxious which I can sympathise with but it manifested in what felt like hundreds of questions and coming at a time when I was trying to rest it felt a little bit like torture. In particular there was a panic about his insurance which involved him having to get a "fit to fly" letter this morning, which meant I had to leave the TLC carriage. Oh and to top it all the cat mistook a small suitcase for its litter tray - luckily it wasn't the one DS was planning to use but it did have some stuff in that he was planning to take!
I was full of adrenaline this morning but have now crashed so will return to the TLC cabinet where I belong !

I help to run the table top sales at my SA Corps - if we get a donated item that I can sell for more than I could ask for in the bric a brac - I take it home and list on local selling sites. So stuff comes in as well as me decluttering as much as I can.
I have recently sold some retro storage cannisters for £20 and today someone is coming to collect some paint which will be another £10 towards our sales total for next Saturday.
I have 17 packs of ready rolled fondant icing sitting next to my computer desk - July date - for which I hope to get a donation.

I am better today! Back at work …. A little odd you may think as it’s Friday but 1. I felt bad as one of my coworkers would have been zooming 2. Wanted to see how I felt 3. Would have fretted all weekend about going back in Monday.
My sinful shelves took a moment to clean today!!!!! And I’ve done 2 lots of washing, tidied rubbish in kitchen and washed dust off several plants. Oh and changed a bed and cleaned up after the dogs in the garden.
Think dog 2 did his own decluttering as I found an empty butter tub outside….haven’t yet found the empty honey pot but the way he was bouncing off the walls last night he def had that!!!!
Dog 1 is looking smug as she’s a good girl even if she does hide all the toys….⭐️⭐️⭐️🥇🥇🥇 2024 decluttering

Siebre so sorry you are having such stress, please take time out for yourself, many hugs.
I have done a major clean of my washer, soda crystals and vinegar a plenty , hopefully ok till next time. Also did sink drains and shower.
Done a Hoover, mop and dust of everywhere else.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.15 -
The crazy thing is @Mrs_Salad_Dodger it is the elder one not wanting to pass clothes to the next, and then 2nd dd doesn't want to pass her 'boys' t shirts onto ds. 😖 with family like that who needs enemies?! I have a feeling I have some tough years ahead with the eldest and 2nd child.....🤬
Today I managed 2 more 🐸
🐸 17 wash food covers (type to stop flies but allows food to cool down)
🐸 18 contacted pension company to make changes to increase retirement age. Been putting this off for a long while, but realistically unless a miracle happens I am not likely to officially retire. My pension pot is small, poorly paid jobs = not enough to put away substantially as well as save for a house in teens and twenties, (realistically enough payout a month for a takeaway a month at todays prices) and I haven't been able to pay in for 8 years. Really disheartening, always imagined i would be one of those pensioners who travelled the world on a gap year as I missed out when I was younger.
I also requested some recycling bags I need to collect next week from local council and popped to the shops for super soft food for ds.

Each half term/school holiday - I spent time with the appropriate child going through their drawers of clothes and wardrobe. As I had 6 children - this took time. Plimsolls and wellies - which were black then - were passed down as well as anything grown out of - obviously - boy to boy and girl to girl apart from unisex items like cagoules.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
