Great paperwork decluttering Keiths_Mum 👏 One medal 🏅 coming your way for resisting the lure of the dry cleaner’s sewing service & doing it yourself 👏 The added benefit is that now you know you can do it, you can save money & possibly have more choice when buying trousers 🥳
Thank you Mrs Salad Dodger for my medal, i am so pleased with myself, I've never been good at sewing or knitting. When I was a Brownie, many moons ago, I had more merit badges than anyone else in my troop (not that i was competitive or anything), but I never managed to get the sewing or knitting one. I remember trying to knit a scarf for my knitting badge, I ended up with twice as many stitches than I started with and it was full of holes!
Continuing with my second round of paperwork decluttering and I must say I am impressed with how ruthless l'm being, also as it is going straight through the shredder, no changing my mind, 104 pieces shredded.Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can

Lovely baking... and lots happening, reading along during the day.
Forgot I got my phone back from repair and had to set it up again, and have managed to get some apps working, of course I don't know passwords, so will be ongoing. Woke up feeling shivery and generally unwell and so close to climbing into bed but had to battle for work. Hugs to those unwell or with family and friends struggling. So easy to forget how difficult being unwell when you're well!
DD2 helped me move big items out of office except desk that we can't get out, will have to pay carpet fitter to move it from end to end. It's scruffy and to be replaced with my dad's at some point. I did bring some files upstairs while watching sort you life out. I agree Mrs SD there must be a happy medium between 10 and 50%, if I could do 30% would make v big difference. Managed to sort some papers, a few recycled and some for shredding tomorrow. Also picked up new bank card from sorting office - after the last going missing asked for special delivery, digital frog for DD1 which hopefully has worked, signed up to NHS future health but otherwise taken it easy, cancelled pilates and watched TV. Also spoke to library apparently I have 6/7 books out all overdue... can't believe I took them out 3 weeks ago and forgot them as buried under stuff. Nice lady waived the fee feeling sorry for me which was nice. Will take back soon !
Thank you for my medal Mrs SD. Carpet fitter for office coming tomorrow and hopefully dishwasher person as still not working properly. I am so impressed with you prepping for meals and cooking.
Night all, take care

Day went from to busy to sad by afternoon. Started out with feeding pets, getting cats down hall behind closed door (which being cats, they hated and let me know). Let the dog in while the city person came to check to see that we had no citrus trees in the back yard that needed spraying (took all of ten minutes). Even though we had "dog proofed", she still found a small candy bar and a pack of medicine to get into (two more things decluttered). Got them away from her before she ate either. She then got into a loaf of bread. Only chewed on two slices. Got her back outside with a dog bone bribe. Started Zoom class with roommate but had to go to Physical Therapy for shoulder halfway through. So I will be watching the video later. After PT, managed to return the box from our Internet-Phone that stopped working so that we had to change companies. Returning it is free through UPS, but if you don't return it, they charge you $150. So I wanted to get it done right away before it went missing. Got home and was getting ready to go to the library to put out books, when we got a call that our missing Board Member had passed away. The library had contacted the police for a welfare check, and from the looks of things at the house, they started checking around. They contacted the Highway Patrol and discovered that apparently he was killed in a freeway crash (still don't exactly when), but they didn't know any relatives to contact and they only release the name after the next of kin is informed. Started looking to see what I could find on the Internet and sent out messages to other board members to see if anyone had any clues. Went to the library and four of us there got 12 boxes of books sorted. Went home, and with the clue that our friend had a brother in Arizona and knowing his birthdate and middle name from his house record on-line, was able to track down his family and get phone numbers for relatives. Our Librarian is going to contact the family on behalf of the Library. He had helped out there since about 1996. She is also contacting the police department so they can take care of the details with the family. This is the third Board member since May of last year. The Board isn't very big but is shrinking rapidly. In my Publisher class, we will be doing newsletters again - so I will be writing another obituary to include in it. I send my project out to the Board and the library staff after turning in the project for class. This morning I also sent birthday cards I had made to my nephew and his daughter via e-mail (learned how to do it last night in class). Class is paying off already.
Hope everyone is having a good day tomorrow.17 -
@mehefin it's so annoying when councils start mucking about with bin collections. We have wheelie bins here and a few years ago they switched to fortnightly from weekly, alternating between normal rubbish and recycling and it caused no end of problems for a while and then last year they decided to charge for the green waste bin. It was optional but they stop collecting mid november and don't start again until march so there will be lots of very full bins by the time they start again.
@Brie I don't put OHs clothes away for exactly the same reasonbut it is annoying looking at piles of clothes that there is ample room for in the wardrobe and cod. I am also working on that method of deleting emails when I can as well as looking at the newest to see if I have to deal with anything. When I have got them down to a a reasonable number I will start unsubscribing
@GrannyKate, I remember all the food problems when I had the procedure. I was quite hungry for a few days as I am veggie and boiled rice can be quite boring. Hope everything goes well hugs.
@Vulpix glad to see you back. My friend mentioned her fear of putting on weight on the QM2 but as she will probably walk her legs off sightseeing in NY I told her not to stress about it. It will be a once in a lifetime for her
Well today I left the house at 10am to meet a couple of friends for coffee and got home at 5.30pm. We stayed for lunch and a couple more coffees until they threw us out at 3.30pm when they closed
. It was lovely to see them and have a proper catch up. I then took myself to the craft shop as I was half way there and picked up the white baby yarn and some lightweight white fleece so they have come into the house but they will be used fairly soon and out again
.
Not a lot of decluttering but I did put another take away container in the hard plastic bag, taken out of the freezer with my tea in as OH was out tonight, ( not counted until it goes to the tip), uu a candle this evening, moved some photos from the laptop onto an external hard drive as the laptop is starting to crash again, I really do need a new oneput a new soap from my stash into the bathroom and was able to provide a gift bag for OH to take tonight with birthday gift from stash
. I was particularly pleased about that having sorted them out and put them away where they live so was able to put my hand right on it rather than the usual scrabble round
so
285 uu candle
286 soap into bathroom
287 gift bag
288 stuff taken off laptop
Take care everyone

Thanks for all the good wishes - I shall be glad when day is over. At least I like black tea which I can drink. Think I've written this week off for decluttering and frogs. Decorators should be finished today.

DS had a lovely birthday yesterday and was thoroughly spoiled. I couldn't bear it anymore and yesterday started to sort out DS's room. I've now rearranged everything for him and have the last of the tidying up to do in there to finish. Just need to figure out how to keep it like that!Decluttering is now just stuff I am coming across whilst tidying, although I deleted a lot of photos from my phone from all the things I've been putting on Buy Nothing. Not sure what actually needs decluttering next (and I want to tackle!), so am just tidying and waiting for some inspiration to hit. I do need to get back to the kitchen at some point, but seems a bit pointless until we've eaten through more of the supplies. Maybe I should tackle the cupboard up here that never has enough room in it and then I'll actually be able to put away the spare sheets that are currently just hanging around... it does involve DH though as it has a lot of his bathroom tat in it.1,382-1,384 - magazines (recycled)1,385 - socks that don't stay up (recycled)1,386-1,387 - packaging (used)1,388 - paper (recycled)1,389 - magnetic board (Buy Nothing)1,390 - bathroom supplies (used up)1,391-1,392 - broken toys/tat (binned)1,393 - stationery (donated to school)1,394-1,444 - photos deletedDD's room definitely works. She made a total mess in there and it took me less than 3 minutes to put it back again! Can't see that happening in DS's room as he has a lot more stuff, but he's old enough now to be tidying it up himself..2025 decluttering: 3,958🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅
