A few more items to report today
78. The aforementioned extra pair of shoes - they were too small for DD, so have been passed on
79. Another pair of broken reading glasses (only poundland, but goodness knows what I do with them)- recycling
80. A bag of Peppa Pig books- they were/are destined for the charity shop, but when I went to drop them off, the shop was in the process of moving premises, so I will take them back another day!
@Dfw38 I hope school can get to the bottom of it, IME it only takes one or two "mean kids" to cause issues. We had a problem with DD being bullied a couple of years back (by a known bully, she was working her way through the class). OH spoke to the head and she was great and it was quickly resolved.15 -
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger - I think you still need to swap out your stamps before the 31st January, the change is, you can still use non barcoded stamps for another 6 month grace period before you will be charged for insufficient postage. I would hate you to lose out on over 200 stamps but the Royal Mail website does contradict itself may times

No tip run done today as to cold and icy but we did take the stuff to the charity shopMortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

Dfw38 said:No decluttering for me today.
scouts for OS maps? i do believe i have a shelf-full somewhere :-)
yesterday's 23 minutes: office - slowly but surely decluttering bag by bag, box by box
today's 23 minutes: office (I suspect office will take till end of January) including switching billy with record collection and table
I also took... 2 bags and a screen up to work office (screen came home at beginning of pandemic). Also took 6 extension leads as operations manager said they could use them there - honestly i think they must have been breeding in my house! i still have a good number around the house
Then took 2 bin bags of decent bedding, music centre (was DD1's), bag of good as new towels plus big box of things i would buy in a CS if i wanted them (my measure) to the CS
And a big box of paper for the recycle and a big bag of rubbish into the bin
Then bought... a new shower caddy - much bigger than current one (which was going rusty and now in bin) - am very happy

So much for coming back quickly 😉 but I did enjoy The Traitors final although the ending was very abrupt 🤔 DSis has wrapped up warm & nipped out to sm & I am finally back for a big push on the cheerleading - wish me luck 🍀 (3:30 p.m.) P.S. 4:43 p.m. DH has discovered his large box of DVDs & old computer games which he is going to sort out 🥳

Liverpool_Anne, pleased to hear that you are starting to feel better after your jab 🙂 However do continue to take life a bit more slowly until you are 100% 🙏
Sounds like you had a lovely day out vulpix 😊 Great observations about the Nick Knowles programme especially your description of it as being “ghoulish”
I think the consensus is that Big Bang decluttering is probably not the way to go when starting the decluttering process 🤔 Hope the plasterers manage to get back to finish the job 🤞 Your description of plumbers had me chortling 🤭 and feeling extremely lucky 🍀 that we found a plumber nearly 10 years ago & even though he can occasionally be a bit scatterbrained 😉 (he is a one man band & very busy all year round) he always comes through for us 🥳 Enjoy your rest day, you have earned it 😊
Excellent decluttering Happy_Kitties 👏 I agree that a Tip run is immensely satisfying & probably just edges out delivering bags of donations to the cs 😉
What an excellent idea QueenJess 👏 I must say that I think Stacey Solomon’s programme is quite a bit better - more discussion of why the clutter has built up & helpful tips as to how to keep the clutter out once the Big Bang Declutter has taken place. I also think that the carpenter she has working with her comes up with some truly brilliant & effective storage solutions 👏
Siebrie, I imagine when you can channel all 3 ideas, you must be a decluttering demon 😊 Interesting Army mottoes 🧐 but I am very proud of myself as I have resisted the temptation to look for more & have NOT added it to my To Do list 🤣
Florenceem , we are travelling 33% faster - 88 pages to close of play 20th January 2022 compared to 116 pages this year 😥 I think we hade the ‘nature versus nurture’ discussion (as it pertains to decluttering) a few years ago & never quite reached a conclusion 😅 although it was a very interesting conversation 🤔
Thanks QueenJess 👏 & look at that we can already see that within just 2 families there are 4 different attitudes to clutter 🤣
vulpix, more excellent observations & even more variations re the ‘nature v nurture’ conversation 😉 By the way, the only person hogging the thread is me 🤣 Pleased to see that MrV is continuing on the decluttering journey with you 👏 I was obviously being optimistic about the work on the bridge 😂
Sorry to hear about OH’s car Millie2008_2 🙁 The last thing you both need 😔 Excellent decluttering 👏
Excellent decluttering Liverpool_Anne 👏
-taff, oops that sounds like me - out of sight out of mind 😉 I think I need to list all my boxes as a reminder of my blind spots 😔
Dfw38, how awful 😣 I hope the situation can be resolved quickly. It makes me so angry but also depressed that this type of bullying still takes place even with all the press coverage etc 😡 A great way to teach your daughters about the benefits of decluttering - one medal 🏅 coming your way 😊
Excellent decluttering QueenJess 👏 The ‘buy nothing’ site seems like a great way to declutter 🙂 and with all that decluttering you were still inspired to declutter the deep drawer in your desk 🤩
Great decluttering of errands gettingthrifty 👏 Your poor wee cat, I hope she is alright now after lots of cuddles 😊
Sorry to hear that life is rather a struggle at the moment, bit_by_bit 🙁 Well done to your DH in exceeding expectations 👏 I am sending you 💐 & 🤗 + Mr Sandman for GS3 😉
Will be back later after I have sorted out dinner 😉

Lots of lovely decluttering going on here.
I have now 'filed' all the wools by colour order in the wool wardrobe, some got weeded out for the cs.
I did more throwing away of papers and card so a second bag for life of the stuff has gone into the recyclng bin.
The bag I have added to my total today is one full of CS stuff - gone. Yay. Such little pleasures
My other sucess today is that I have done my CS shift and bought nothing.

Yesterday I took lots of stuff to the CS with the help of DS. This included a never used Nutribullet - . I'm delighted that its out of the house as there was a danger I'd convince myself that the fantasy juicer me would use it. It's been sitting on top of my fridge for years!
Was feeling a bit poorly today (upset tummy) so have been resting on the sofa and have now watched every episode of Nick Knowles <blush> . Feeling much better now and extremely peckish!

I am loving the conversation that Nick Knowles' show has started. I also would like to know how the families get on after 6 months to a year. For some of them it seems that it was just something happened that was overwhelming and but others it's more how they think think about things - especially connecting memories and stuff. It makes me realise that over the years I have definitely got so much better about separating the two. I am now mostly attached to photos but I can get my whole collection into a small holdall and it won't increase as everything is digital now. Maybe one day I will digitalise them but there's no real rush. Plenty more easier and bigger things to part with.
Mehefin: Wow that was a lot of weight to lose in such a short period of time - you must have been very ill. I wish you well in your recovery
Dfw38: Sending good wishes to you and your DD
Sending love to everyone in the TLC carriage. I think I'll hang out there for the rest of the day.... xxx

Good evening. Not much decluttering done here except my patience. The bedroom is taking way longer than planned as the plaster is falling off too. DH has been patching it today so hopefully ready to sand down tomorrow. I have made a start on the pantry while they were busy filling, must do it more often. As it's only 3 deep shelves everything just gets shoved in and things get list at the back. It is on the list of jobs to be replaced with more, narrower shelves. I did make both chocolate cheesecake and chocolate buns this afternoon.

Having another go at book decluttering. I've rearranged my living room and I now only have space for one bookcase rather than two. The second one is going to go in the boiler room for now and will contain all of the books that I will let go of. I will get donate them over a period of time as it is not possible for me to carry them all at once. Once they've gone, I'll give the second bookcase away on Freecycle.2023 Mortgage-Free Wannabe #19: £11,675.68/£13,000

Electricity went off after lunch and so I decided to rearrange DS's room on a trial basis to see if it could work. If so, I still have lots of sorting to do. At the same time I got DS to declutter half a drawer. Lots of buy nothing pick ups this weekend so more packaging leaving the house (tons still to go) and I've packaged up the charity donations. Library room is messy, but not getting worse, so I must be keeping on top of the buy nothing/charity donations thus far.I can't believe how much I've got rid of already this year. It still feels like there is a long way to go though!654-59 - packaging (reused)660-83 - kids toys/bits and pieces (recycled/binned/charity bag)684 - plastic bag reused2025 decluttering: 3,973🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅
