Google smart speaker tv screen no obeying command

Options
Hiya
Not sure if this right place to post.
We have about 12 smart speakers, inc screens,.
The alexa screens/speakers working fine as are Google screens and smart
speaks bar one. The one in the bedroom a screen version since
a few days ago stopped obeying  the "stop in xx mins" etc. orders.
I trieved to say different commands and have turned it off at the plug and turned back on
but still not obeying the stop in xx mins command
I have deleted the smart speaker apps as our phone is old and needed space
Many thanks in advance.

  • Hard reset then set it up from scratch again? Does this need the Google Home app on a device?

    Hi
I was hoping to avoid that but will try later, thanks

No, I don't think it does . I am aware that we have set up Alex smart speaks no app whatsoever - but will double check as linked to others.

    Thanks

    Hi

    Update

Re-set to factory setting, lost everything as expected. Had to upload app needed our childrens help. The damn thing is still not obeying the command that order the smart speaker/hub to stope as commanded after a certain time

Worse still, the other units are not doing this.

Not sure if its the Google site

NB: These Google and Alexa speakes/hubs we have change their minds about what they want to hear about when calling up a radio station and accept different commands at different times to bring up the same station.

We used the sleep, turn off in xx mins at night time, really miss it. :(

    anyone?

maybe try changing the speaker sensitivity in the Home app, or retrain your voice ?

    Hi

    Many thanks,

When I give it the order EG, "Hey Google, stop (turn off) in xxxx minutes,"  Ms Google confirms this verbally and on the screen.
However, the command is understood but not obeyed.

For the above reason I won't try as you kindly suggested

    :)
  • Anyone, please?
    Thanks :)
  • Hi

NB: I've looked onn Google several times and tried the Google site to speak to someone but keep on getting passed to automated stuff

I have reset all Google devices etc but none of them are carrying out the command " Hey google stop in xx minutes." I've varied the commands in the way I order Google. Google responds/confirms verbally and auditory but not in practice

Anyone esle suffering etc or suggestions, please?

    Thanks
  • Hello

Update: Spoke with one of kids that came to see us today to watch the match/etc.
This kid of ours works for a co that advises gov, uk/eu etc of cyber threats and main probs.
I asked him re our google speakers and as he has several, he advised me that the prob is at
googles end and this has happened before he thinks about a year ago poss this year.
A friend is US advised him of this as they were working  ??? re another smart speaker group.

Therefore, me wasting time with reboot, factory settings, reloading app etc was waste of time. I think its been going on for 2 weeks, almost.

    Thanks

Some of the timer functionality has been lost from Google Home devices over the last month or so.  This is a global issue, not your unit.
Commands like "OK Google, Play Sleep Sounds for 20 minutes" will play the sounds, confirm they will stop in 20 minutes - but not stop. The way round it is to create a routine with a timer to stop the audio. A bit tedious.
It's discussed in detail in the subreddit r/googlehome if you wish to learn more.
