I've just discovered that although my 2018 euro 6 diesel car is accepted as ulez compliant in cities such as Birmingham and Bristol etc (as you would expect), the tfl vehicle checker for the London ulez shows that it isn't!

The vehicle description is correct but I now have to get documentation from Ford, plus a copy of my V5 and send this to tfl to prove that the information on their database is incorrect and get it updated.

It's worth checking your own vehicles, regardless of age, as the database obviously isn't totally accurate.
Welcome to the £12:50 club 😄
Might be worth checking to see what it says as regards the congestion charge

In answer to your question, my niece lives in the Ulez zone and has a non compliant motorbike, she went a mile down the road and back so didn’t go outside the zone , she also thought there were no cameras, she got a fine.

Sums up the stealth tax nicely 👍
  • Even more could get hit in 2025 when euro 7 comes out. Diesels that is.
As my car is registered disabled I should get a 4 year exemption.

This might be just me, but I am sure that AutoTrader previously had a filter for ULEZ compliant and that seems to have been taken off the site search functions now.  Unless the filter remains but has been moved to a different location and I simply can't find it.
  • Hi, I live in Rickmansworth, which is one road outside the new ULEZ zone.
If I drive to the end of my road, I’ll be inside the new zone. But I cannot scrap my car as the TFL website rejects my application.
How is this fare, I’m a prisoner in my own home, as I can’t drive without having to pay £12.50 every time.
I’d like to scrap my car & put the money towards a cleaner vehicle.
But at present it’s not possible. Even though I right on the boundary.
Does anyone have any advice ?
Sorry for the rant, but it seems very unfair that I cannot scrap my car & I’m on on Universal Credit too.
    Thank you.

    Why is it rejected?

Is you car worth less than 2k if it isn’t I think you would be better off selling it rather than scrapping

The poster said they live outside the proposed zone.
The scrappage scheme requires the applicant to be resident in a London Borough, which is the area covered by the ULEZ.  Live one house outside and you are not eligible.

This expansion has failed to take into account the very high number of older cars in the outer ring of London.  Many of those cars doing very low mileages so the saving in emissions will be lost by the premature car upgrade.  Outer London also has far worse public transport options as that is all geared to getting from outer London to centre, not going around London to the next community.
