Batteries and saving sessions

Based on what others have said, it is calculated every half hour so whatever your baseline is for the half hour period, times that by 3 for 1.5 hr, times by 4 for 2 hr session etc0

Baseline calc is the same except the session length is different. In theory each 30 minute period in the session is calculated separably so there are are 3 30 minute baselines in a 90 minute session. The same IDA is applied to all 3 but each one has its own baseline fomo the corresponding 30 minute period over the last 10 (non saving session) working days.jacoscar said:
Noted, thanksmichaels said:
This would only be if you normally have zero consumption during the 3 hour in day adjustment period, otherwise you would need to subtract the average (per hour ie divided by 3) consumption over the previous 10 days during the IDA period.jacoscar said:So if I’ve actually interpreted what people have seen the formula to calculate the baseline is
average consumption over the 10 previous ‘qualifying’ days + total consumption over the 3 hours IDA /3
so for someone with a storage battery and normally drawing very little from the grid the calculation is:
total consumption in the 3 IDA hours /3
This only applies to 1 hour long saving sessions as I haven’t worked out how it would work for longer ones
How would that work for 1.5 or 2 hours sessions?I think....1 -
So if we talk about baseline kW rather than kWh, there is no difference in how the baseline is calculated with different session lengths

It's good to be diligent in checking your energy data and calculations to ensure accuracy and fairness in energy billing and savings. The calculation method you described sounds reasonable, but it's always best to verify with the specific company or utility that you are working with to confirm their specific calculation method. They may have their own policies and procedures in place that differ from what you have described. It may also be helpful to review the terms and conditions of your agreement with the company, or to speak to a customer service representative for clarification.michaels said:Sad I know but I have downloaded my smart meter data (from data.n3rgy.com) and tried to recreate the saving session calcs and am getting a different answer.
Baseline for in day adjustment period and saving period I believe should be the previous 10 working days excluding any saving session days.
Calculated saving is then (on day adjustment period use less previous 10 day average adjustment period use) plus (previous 10 day saving session usage less on the day saving session usage)
Has anyone else checked the calcs? Do we know if it is the company who are doing the payout who do the calcs or is it done centrally and simply communicated?

Apparently the calcs are outsourced to a third party and the savign session app are willing to pass on my detailed calcs (if I can be bothered to set them out clearly....amosmosley said:

Another session today 5.30 - 6.30 but did not get warning until this morning which reduces flexibility to load up the in day adjustment period
I think....0 -
suns out too which makes it harder to preload but will boast water and stick washing machine on at 1 30

Joined the saving session yesterday and decided to play the game of using the hours before to charge my battery to allow zero use during the saving hour. Just checked my usage from yesterday and no usage data available, the last readings were 20 Feb. Just my luck for it all to go wrong when I do actually try to play the system

im sure it's just slow updating, can you see from your system how much you used during the pre session period?
I used about 30kw, i haven't confirmed it on octopus yet though.
Hopefully will give me about 20 quid back!
I think there is only 1 or 2 sessions left so need to make the most of them...0
