    I find buyers don’t bother, so I don’t either

I always do in batches, and only leave feedback for sales more than 2-3 weeks then I know either the item I bought works or if I've heard nothing and an item is shown as delivered then I leave feedback for buyers
I sell a bit and I keep a spreadsheet, I think I get feedback for about 25% of my sales, maybe even less
  • I always leave feedback once the Buyer has paid. They've kept their side of the bargain. If I'm confident my product is as described, and I'm dispatching within timescales, the worst that will happen is they won't reciprocate with similar feedback. Positive comments about packaging and lightning quick dispatch can make a big difference to a buyer when deciding on who to buy from when List price is the same.

And I think it also works the other way.
As a buyer, if a listing has best offer option, when I put an offer in, I always mention my buyer feedback which shows I'm a very fast payer.
  • I buy far more than I sell. I leave feedback once paid when I'm selling as they paid me and so far never had a problem. As a buyer I won't leave feedback until the seller has as I have fulfilled my part of the contract. I have a number who haven't done it yet so see no need to give them a positive
What a strange attitude.  I leave feedback once the transaction is complete (I have my item, or a refund on the rare occasion something's wrong with the item).  Then the seller knows it's done and I'm not going to give them hassle.
Just goes to show there is more than one view and they are all strange
An answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......

I tend to leave feedback in batches every couple of weeks or so. Even at that it’s rare now that I’ve had feedback from the buyer by then. I’d say about a third of my sales get feedback (thankfully all positive).

I will never understand why eBay removed the ability to leave buyer's negative feedback. Surely if a buyer doesn't pay, or just abuses the return's policy, sellers should be able to reflect this in their profile to warn others??
I believe eBay made this controversial policy change due to a signficant number of sellers leaving retalitory feedback (even if unwarranted) in response to buyers leaving negative or neutral feedback. This impacted the integrity of the feedback system as many buyers were put off leaving negative or neutral feedback for non-performing sellers. This was also against the backdrop at the time of negative feedback staying permanently on one's feedback record.
While these changes likely shifts the balance of power in favour of the buyer, I believe on balance it is better than the previous system. I doubt there is any system that will be fully equitable to both buyers and sellers, so eBay has taken the somewhat controversial decision to favour the buyer as far as feedback is concerned. The seller is able to respond and request revisions I believe.
I don't do much selling on eBay. On the few occasions that I do I leave feedback as soon as the buyer pays. So far I have not been burnt - though I appreciate that the probability of encountering a "buyer from hell" is much higher with regular sellers.

  • Just looking through an eBay account of mine, I set up in 2020
as of today I have sold 545 items
I have purchased around 50 items, all from business sellers and I'm fairly certain there's a high rate of feedback from here, they all leave positive feedback instantly
    current feedback is only 256
so it's less than half of my sales I get a feedback.
what's odd is sometimes the buyers send me a message through eBay thanking me for posting so quick, or for bothering to list such a trivial item or whatever saying that they have been looking for it for years, yet they still never leave positive feedback!

I don't leave feedback, I don't buy much and have stopped selling the few items I used to sell on there.
  • I miss the creative avant guard feedback that used to crop up back in the noughties.  With a group of other sellers we used to alert the others in the group of sellers if we saw a good one.
I leave f/b after payment received always the same dull comment, mainly because I'd forget if I leave it.
More useful is the excluded buyer list.  Again, a few sellers tip off the rest of the gang and we all add any odd customers to our exclusion list.  In 20+ years I've only had one potential buyer message me to find out why they can't buy an item.  I just say it must be a glitch.  It's one of the tools we small time sellers have.
