Getting rid of old furniture?

We have a Hulsta display cabinet that would cost new around £3-5k. It's a big thing - 2m wide, and 2m high. Condition is okay, but some of the finish needs touching up. We apparently can't even give it away. BHF laughed at us. I tried advertising it on Facebook for £50, with a view to accepting £nil, but nobody is interested.
As an example, this ebay item, which is really quite nice and a quality item, had nobody interested.

Do I just dismatle my unit and take it to the dump, or pay someone to take it away?

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Do I just dismatle my unit and take it to the dump, or pay someone to take it away?Advertise it as possible garage/shed storage shelving? That is usually expensive to buy and people are often on the lookout for suitable alternatives.Sadly good quality furniture often isn't wanted. I was following an auction at the weekend with good quality items of furniture being knocked out at prices much less than the wood is worth. If only I owned a barn with space to store large quantities of the stuff until it comes back into fashion again.3 -
Why did you not choose to advertise it for free/charity donations on facebook? Advertising at a price, wouldn't you only get cheeky people asking if they could have it free and not everyone who might be interested in rescuing it from the dump?
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

I've tried offering stuff free. I had three people asking about it ("is it really free?"), but nobody actually bothered to turn up.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Yeah - I find a little sorting of people is needed, but I have got rid of some stuff I really wanted to see the back of!

Hi OP
The classy item for its time but well out of fashion for most. However, many want it but it is big and those that may really want it live far away as often is the case.
We had old wardrobes when we bought a rental, and it would have been a shame to throw them away - we advertised for quid, many were interested but too far away and bulky to carry away.
We were going to pay the council to take them away when one of our kids rang a few local furniture shops and one of them took them away the next day aftr we sent them pics - it was very heavy but they were used to it and I'm sure it went to a nice home
Advertise it again for one quid, you may get more interest as people too shy to offer 1 one or "nil" if advertised at 50.
Good luck.1 -

I've put stuff on Freegle/freecycle/Facebook etc. If anyone wants stuff don't put yourself out to help them because most don't turn up. "It's here, I'm in on Friday, moving it is up to you" is about as far as I'll go. I've had enough of laboriously preparing things to be picked up and no one coming. If that doesn't work it goes in the wheelie bin over several weeks.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.2

Would being clever about the description help? As said, garage storage “to help with cost of living crisis”. Or “perfect for upcycling”
Bit of psychology. Some people don’t want quality, they want Insta/TikTok fashionable 🤷♀️I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.2
