Barclaycard statement-are they issued on the same day as initial statement (or the next working day)

Options
My initial barclaycard statement was issued on Friday 04 November 2022.

This month (December) the 04th was Sunday. Does that mean the statement is not issued on that day? Surely, now that Sunday trading is allowed, statements can also be issued.  :D:D

If not (due to some other reason - not Sunday trading allowed reason) then is it issued the next working day? In this case, it should be today (Monday 5 December 2022). However, I've logged in to the app and can only see the November statement there.

I had a Barclaycard account in 2018/2019 (I closed it in 2019). Checked the statement issue dates for some months. Here they are:

1) 18 October 2018  (Thu)
2) 20 November 2018  (Tue)
3) 20 December 2018  (Thu)
4) 21 January 2019 (Mon)
5) 20 March 2019
6) 20 February 2019
.....
14) 18 October 2019

It seems since 20 January 2019 was a SUnday the statement wasn't issued. It was issued on the 21 January 2019. But then how come it wasn't issued on 18 January 2019, which was a Friday? 18th was the initial day it was produced after all.

You're assigned a cycle date. But that can flex depending on printing capacity. If a day is lost, your cycle date may move back. Equally, if it falls on a non-printing day, such as Sunday.

That  makes sense. But tell me, 'move back' as in move back in the cycle, but move forward in the calendar?

Are you getting physical statements, or online ones?

I get mine online. Barclaycard statements aren't available on the date on them, as they finalise all expenditure, up to and including that date before they produce it.

Mine are almost always on the 1st of the month. The December one is dated the 1st, Thursday, but I got an email very early on the 3rd, Saturday morning, to say my statement was now available to view.

The information about if it is a physical statement or electronic statement was provided within the OP.

I didn't receive an email last month in November. I just logged in to the App and it was available.

It is now 06 December and still no email. I've logged into the App and still can only see the November statement.

I did receive an email from Barclaycard a few days ago saying they got my direct debit payment. Just not one about any statement issued for December (nor for November for that matter).

You may have been lucky with your statement email notifications and almost all your statements issued on 1st. I've seen a thread on here from a while back on how inconsistent Barclaycard are with their statement issue date. Will edit this post and post link if I have time.

The main point I'm making is if you are to get a statement dated the 5th as you expected, I wouldn't expect it to be available until the 7th at the earliest.

I've had my Barclaycard a long time, and can't remember if I opted into notifications, but I get an email every month when my statement is ready to view.

So how come my December statement has shifted to 5th? If the November statement was issued on the 4th, why would it shift to 5th the next month? Presumably, it's due to printing capacity as a member had mentioned before (and not because statements aren't issues on a Sunday?)

Also, I'm receiving emails saying they (Barclaycard) received my direct debit payment. If I'm receiving emails to say that, why wouldn't I be receiving emails to say the statement is available?

I have kept screenshots of my Barclaycard application. I just checked them. Under 'Your contact details' there is a sub-heading 'Paperless statements'. Under that it says:

You'll be able to view your statements in your online servicing account. We'll alert you via email whenever one is ready. Prefer paper statements? No problem, you can change this setting at any time in your online servicing account, or by giving us a call.
Under the above my email address is listed. Then within the 'Summary' of the application, I can see all of the above again. So, I agreed to paperless statements and the email alerts that come with it.

Any idea why I didn't receive the email notification last month?

edit: what email address is your Barclaycard statement email notifications coming from. The email notification saying my direct debit payment was received came from barclaycard@e-mails.barclaycard.co.uk

Is the 'statement issued' email notification coming from the same email or a different one. If a different one maybe I can search my emails to see if it has gone through to a folder other than the inbox (I have many many automatic filtering rules setup). This is unlikely tbh because I've already searched the whole mailbox for 'barclaycard' and if those emails were filtered to different folders other than inbox the search should've found them.

I don't know if it has shifted to the 5th. You appeared to expect that in your first post. Though looking back at mine, they don't seem to be dated at the weekend. Most of them are the 1st, as I said initially, but October was the 3rd, as was May. Both of those coincide with the 1st falling at a weekend. Monday May 2nd was probably the May day bank holiday, which meant they skipped that as well.

Email notifications about my statement being ready come from:-

    barclays@emails.barclays.co.uk
  • I get an email on one day saying statement is available but it's not in the app until the next day, mine always vary too

    24th Nov, 26th Oct, 27th Sept, 24th Aug, 26th July, 28th June, 26th May, 28th April, 24th Feb, 27th Jan

Beyond it being the Tue or Thur in the last full week of the month, there doesn't seem to be any logic to it other than probably being a fixed number of days since the last one

IIRC Barclaycard statements are always issued on the same working day each month.

So if your last statement was on the 5th working day of the month, all your statements will be on the 5th working day of the month.

Bank holidays, and weekends are not working days for the banks.
