Confused about plans
Options
Hi
I’m looking to upgrade my Samsung Galaxy S7 to possibly a Google Pixel 6a (as per my other post).
I’ll stay with EE but my 24month plan expired over 100 days ago and is now a rolling monthly one.
I’ll probably buy the Pixel 6a outright but was wondering if it’s possible to renew another 12 or 24 month plan with EE using the Nano SIM from my S7.
EE website says the monthly payment stays the same once the plan expires so why have a plan?
Any help appreciated.

Because your minimum period (24mths) has expired then either party can terminate the deal by giving a months notice (or by the use of a PAC code). What is more likely is that EE will at some point say that your existing plan is terminating and will offer you other options. Might be favourable, maybe not, but could be amenable to a haggle.
Could happen at any time but might just continue as is for years. You are free to use your existing SIM in any phone you like.1 -
Why would you want to commit to EE for another 24 months when you don't need to ? There are lots of good sim only deals about, I know EE is a good signal in most places I used to be with them but changed for a better deal, rolling month yet still on EE network, the best of both worlds.1

How much are you paying at the moment and how much data you use?

I don’t even use 1 gig of data each month but it’s there if I need it.

You can get sim only plans now for less than £6 a month unlimited calls and text inc 2GB data1

£16 a month for 3 gig of data is extortionate nowadays and you should look to switch asap.
If you want to stay with the EE network then take a look at RWG who piggyback off them. They get very positive reviews on this site and they are way cheaper than what you are currently paying.

If you want/need to replace your phone then it could be worth looking at a new contract. Alternatively you could look to buy a phone outright and go sim only. You may need to port your number to a new sim, unless you stay on contract with ee, when you can just put your sim in a new phone
If your phone is still working well you could just go sim only for twelve months or a rolling contract, until the perfect deal comes up.1 -
In your position (paying far too much for 3GB, rolling monthly), I would look for the cheapest SIM-only deal for required usage and quote it to EE when they ask where you're moving, after you have obtained a PAC from them. They are likely to offer you a discounted 12 month SIM-only contract to match it.I currently pay £3.27 (originally £3) for 3.2GB since the last time I did this, as I've been doing for a couple of decades, but they will only match a currently available alternative.Evolution, not revolution1
