    It's driven by economics, not politics.
    Point i made was about the long term over last decade refusal of planning by Tories which is political.
    Scottish government dont have a policy of refusing planning for onshore wind, solar farms or new pumped storage or hydro schemes.


    And a lot of existing and planned renewable infrastructure is owned by SSE who are investing billions in it.
    SSE is internationally traded firm listed on the FTSE100 with the majority of owners being venture capital funds, wealth funds and international pension funds. It is no longer a Scottish company, it even removed Scottish from it's name.

    So not only does Scotland have far less renewable generation than England, each individual generator also performs worse - either by being less efficient or by being available for less of the time.
