I've got another three Money Maker seeds germinated all of a sudden this week, so that will even things out nicely between those and my GD. I haven't really got the space for any more, without a serious tidying / throwing out session.

I think I sowed mine a bit early (first week of April) as they are really growing fast now in my LED light box, so it’s time to transplant and start hardening them off in the greenhouse.

All the big plants in modules are going into individual pots where they’ll stay until they go in the ground.

I’m now putting them out in the greenhouse during the day and taking them in at night, although if nights are above 10 degrees I’ll start leaving them there. Sungold on the right, Brandywine beefsteak in the middle and three purple cherry on the left. Gardeners delight are still in the light box as I had to make a second sowing, but they’ll soon catch up. Interesting how you can tell the varieties apart by their different growth habits. Gardener’s Delight are quiet distinctive as well, being very stocky plants compared to lanky Sungold.

I've potted on another three Money Maker at the weekend, and I have perhaps one more to come, and that's enough for me in terms of space as much as anything else. I've also got a few chilli plants looking as if they might do something, but far more that are not.

There are 2 big garden centres we go to that sell Heritage tomatoes.  They have wonderful names like Green Zebra.  :D. If you live in the South have a look at Isle of Wight tomatoes. They taste divine but are expensive.  I’m going to save seeds this year.

I've sown two Sungold cherry tomato seeds and they came up last week. Will these be super late in getting a crop, or will it catch-up in time in mid-summer? Mine will be grown outdoors in the raised bed.

I've moved three of my GD tomatoes into larger pots now, and put them out in the lean-to greenhouse. I'm not sure it's warm enough overnight yet, but now they're in bigger pots they can't stay on the window sill. I had to leave them all day yesterday and they were quite wilted when I got back, so at least the bigger pots will hold a bit more water for next time I am out for the day.
  • My GD & Roma plum tomato seedlings have been in their large pots outside for about 1.5 weeks now. Being out in the breeze has really strengthened the stems. After a bit of a slowdown they’re growing well, in a sheltered corner with a bit of shielding from any gusts.

Once they’re bigger I’ll move them out to the large patio to merrily flower/grow. Next door’s cat will dig them up this small. I’ve ended up with 2x GD & 5x Roma. With an extra GD I’m nurturing for a friend until she comes back from her holidays.
