The S20 fe was £329 at Amazon a few days ago. This was posted on the Hotukdeals site I mentioned above. This deal has now ended.

You just need to keep checking for deals.

I have a 4 year old Galaxy S8 Plus. It's time to change it for a more modern one. I don't want the latest gadgets, I'm happy with older models.

I've been looking on the Samsung website, and they have Galaxy S20 and S22 phones.  Is there a great difference between these? The FE 5G model seems cheaper than the others - is this phone OK? What does FE mean?

I don't really want to do any complicated photographs or videos, but I would like the 5G facility so that I can use this in due course. I usually keep my phones for about 4 years, so 5G will probably be common by then.
Is there a particular reason why you need/want to replace your phone now? I understand future proofing but wouldn't buy 5g now if you don't live in a supported area or need the performance. Would make more sense to wait another year or so. Are you experiencing problems? If you have used it a lot and are paying monthly for a contract it might be worth looking at a new contract and getting the phone included. Are you on a sim only deal at the moment?
Phone contracts are nothing like the rip off they used to be.

The  Samsung A52 5G or A53 5G will give you all that but for under £250 in the case of the former and around £300 for the latter. Good battery life also.
I've had a look at the reviews for the A53 5G, and it seems great. Can you remind me how I connect it to my phone number? I'm on a contract with 3. Do I have to contact 3 to get another SIM card?
You might find a bit of a step down in build quality from a Galaxy s, but performance should hold up.
For several years all sims have been supplied with perforations so you can snap the sim to the right size, but your phone already uses the smallest nano size. Your phone should come with a glorified paperclip which pushes into a little door release to remove a tiny tray with the sim in it. Every sim has a cut corner so will only fit in one way round.  Many newer phones have space for two sims so you can use two networks in case you have dodgy coverage, but you can leave the other slot empty.
As has been said some apps will have stored things on the old phone so it is advisable to download or backup everything. You will then need to register the new device to your accounts.
