Enjoy a treat with your Aunt’s legacy….it’s money you wouldn’t have had and I’m sure she’ll want you to enjoy it. It’s what we did with my mil’s legacy….there’s no way we’d have had Millie Motorhome without it. A one off amount of cash for a one off spend.January spends - £587.584

Your chat about your savings was interesting - thanks for sharing. I've just updated our wall planner with maturity dates for our savings. OH asked if we were going to Kent on 15th May? I wasn't sure if he was pleased or disappointed when I told him it was Kent Reliance Building Society savings maturing 🤷♀️4
-
@DawnW The new rate is pretty poor isn't it - I'll not be going for another one either. @Blackcats that made me laugh "Are we going to Kent?" - I'd best make a note to head to Coventry next february then!
@milann this is my thinking too on the money - the money I inherited was saved by my Great Aunt and Uncle and left to us (My Mum, her cousin and his three girls, and me) and I know my Gt Uncle in particular would have absolutely LOVED hearing about all my aviation photography adventures over the past few years - he was quite the AvGeek himself in fact. Auntie D loved my photos too, so it really is appropriate to use the money to enable the hobby to continue! I should add the the bulk of it is staying firmly tucked away - I might end up using a chunk to do something that's needed with the new house when we finally get to move, but we'll see.
Just checked banking and found that the first lot of cashback from N@t1onw1de for using the debit card for grocery spending has landed - so I've transferred that to the New House Fund and nudged MrEH to check for his, too. I'll be putting the planned dent in the joint account surplus this evening when I fill my car up - bless her she's almost empty too so that won't be cheap. Good news is that it looks like our diesel prices locally have dropped to 161.9 which is the cheapest I've seen it in a long while. MrEH should get paid tomorrow anyway so everything resets once that lands.
I took the plunge and ordered the laptop last night - that will be arriving tomorrow - MrEH is WFH so will be there to receive it and I'll hopefully be able to get it set up tomorrow evening. Once the CC statement arrives I'll sort the transfer of the money for both that and the camera over. No sign of the cashback tracking yet but hopefully it still will. The click through is showing at least, which is always a start.
Other MSE-ness then....
- remembered to get the fish out to defrost in the fridge ready for Thai fish stew tonight - and also got a bottle of passata out of the storecupboard this morning and put it ready. That'll be another half a teaspoon of the ever-lasting red curry paste from the fridge used up too! I've dispatched MrEH to Al's this morning to buy peppers as I used the last of the frozen ones earlier in the week.
- I need to give some thought to next week's meal plan - we'll most likely shop on Sunday again this week as Saturday is looking busy.
- We've reverted to the summer method of sticking the water on to heat when we get up in the morning which works well when the clocks have changed. It was on for well under an hour this morning to bring back to full temperature, so that's definitely more economical than it cutting in and out through the night each time the thermostat tells it to.
- I also remembered yesterday morning that the hallway storage heater needed it's output timing adjusted to avoid it giving off heat while it was still in charging time - it felt a little chilly this morning but not enough to be a problem. The electricity use looked exceptionally good as a result too - I'm expecting to see a difference when I read the meter tomorrow. (Must remember to read the meter tomorrow!)
Oh - and a play about with the new camera last night did indeed end up with some pics of the Goslings - these are Egyptian Geese babies - how cute?!

It definitely does - always surprises me quite how much, to be honest! we'll still do the overnight thing over the weekend - as that's the best way of making sure MrEH has really hot water for his Monday morning shave, but other than that, we can perfectly well switch it in and out and save ourselves some money!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Aww, Egyptian goslings! I've never seen those before, despite occasionally spotting a pair of Egyptian geese at a lake fairly near to us. There was also a sighting of one in our village a few years ago - we are situated next to a major river - but I think he'd come by accident as he'd flown off to pastures new by the time I went down to see if I could see him.
Mr F is very fond of wildlife photography. In fact, I wish he'd have a bit more confidence in his pictures as he does take some lovely shots.

I was attacked by a gaggle of Egyptian geese on the Norfolk Broads at the Reedham Ferry pub much to the other half and the pub beer garden residents 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I had only stepped off the boat to moor it up!6 -
Lovely photo. Popping by to say if your optical appointment happens to be with B00ts don’t forget to use the card registered with Airtime Rewards. Even though it states optical doesn’t count it has twice for me with a very positive result.
