You can get a Sony Xperia 10 IV 128GB for £300 atm (giffgaff did have it at £249).
That is a good price for a phone of it's spec. (mid-range not flagship)

IMHO, the Samsung A52s 5G, also £300, is a contender at this price point (disclosure: very happy w/ my 1 y/o).

New Samsung phones have much better long term support than they used to so are well worth investigating.

I've still got an S7 as a backup phone but found that the increase in size to an S10 was minimal as the screen covers the entire phone. If you want to go for refurbished then the S10e may suit you both in size and weight (but is limited to Android 12).

The S7 goes to android 8.0 so won't support all apps - for example the Chase banking app so I would recommend that you go for a newer version to cover yourself in terms of future security and usability.

Yes, was looking at the Pixel 6a.
There's probably not much in it between these mid range phones and performance on par with the S7.
Refresh rate is the same or higher.

Good battery life is always useful and Samsungs aren't great.
Ideally would want something that's good for Android 13 when it arrives. Basically as long lasting as possible without flagship price.

The Pixel 6a will embarrass the S7 on performance, not even close.

It already has Android 13 and will get 5 years of Android support (that is for security updates)

Price around £300 so midrange phone.
S7 was top range back in 2016-17 and cost nearly £500.
Haven't looked at contract deals as I've made do fine with outright purchase and SIM only.
I think I have 3gig of data with my EE SIM plan.
    Don't use much.

Thanks. The performance comparison was one thing I wasn't sure about.

£11 per month for 3GB is too expensive!!!
Have a look with RWG mobile if you need to stick with EE network.

If you willing to go for contract and want to stick with Samsung. have a look with trade in cash back deal at mobilephonedirect.
    S22/ S21 FE/ A53 whichever suit your budget.
