Thanks Jwil. I think it was an amazing bargain. Views of Wensleydale just from inside. Amazing!
I've written over 3,200 words today so I am thrilled. I only have 5 or 6 chapters left to write to finish my first draft. I'll then put it away for a few weeks/months and then edit and polish it before getting it proofread. I may then get it properly edited again, I don't know. I'll then either carry on with Book 3 or write more of my Priestess book. Excited about writing again. In word count terms I'm now about 70-75% way through my book.
I now need to pack up, tidy and clean a bit and go home. Hopefully, I will then carry on writing over the weekend.
I've also kept reasonably to plan money-wise for which I'm grateful. My home insurance is due around mid May. My cat insurance is also due for renewal soon - although I normally pay monthly for that. Plus I'm at the Optician's tomorrow. Could get expensive!! The insurance is budgeted so shouldn't be too bad, it's the Optician bit that worries me.
It;s interesting watching lambs running around and springing up and trying to touch their feet together. Fun too watching tractors. A whole different slice of life than what I normally see as more of a townie. There are chickens running around in the day too but they have coop they're put in safely at night.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

The lambs were a bit crazy a couple of weeks back, but now they have calmed down somewhat. Glad you are enjoying them and the countryside. What I do not give, you must never take by force.

Thanks Tahlullah and Beanie
I made it home safely and despite multiple stretches where it was down to 50 mile an hour or worse It took only about an extra 15-20 minutes compared with the forecast time.
My house is also clean and tidy which is nice to come home to.
I skipped tea so I'm going to have some porridge before bed.
A lot of my seedlings that I was still waiting for when I left have now come up. My peas came up but my beans didn't. My broccoli is very leggy as is my dill so hope I've not waited too long to transplant them. Lots of other things came up but their labels despite using permanent ink haven't survived very well - so could be a wait a while job to know for sure what they are!! Most of them are still quite short. I'll need to check what I have to transplant things in to and may then start off some other seedlings. A job for the weekend.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

My garden is blossoming beautifully. I have red and yellow tulips, blue forget-me-nots, grape hyacinth, pink geraniums, yellow jasmine, pink clematis, purple azalea, apple trees, daffodils, a cherry tree. Lots to celebrate.
I go with DD later to pick up her car - she waited for my return. I'm off to the Optician this afternoon too. She's out at work for now so hoping to get some more words written on my story. I've just put the heating on. The cottage had a heat pump - and I really struggled to get it to adjust temperatures - so I've been basking in 21 degrees all week. TBF most days the outside temperatures were between 12-16 so pretty good for the time of year.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks Merlin. It's a step closer. Just hope my nerves can take going out with her in the car!
Well I went to the Optician - and got 20% off corporate discount so happy with that. I told them about a code they were unaware of due to my earlier research. After claiming £155 back from health cash plan - the bill to me was £209 so pretty happy with that. I'm going to use my existing glasses as a spare as he said there wasn't much in it. They were about to discontinue my current frame (which I love) so pleased I got in first! Like a good MSE person I've barely been back 10 mins and I've already submitted my claim for £ back. I should get the £ back in a week and will then repay my points card.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Your garden sounds lovely!
Well done on sorting the optician claim quickly, it's so easy to put these things off.
Congrats to DD on getting her car. Independence is in sight!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3 -
So pleased that DD has got her car now. When I used to take my children out to practice driving it wasn't so much nerve wracking as feeling disbelief that this grown up person doing grown up things like driving used to be a very little person where learning to crawl was a big milestone. Although because mine were both 17 they were still quite immature. Whilst they were both safe drivers they needed lots of prompts/nags to do things like top up petrol let alone windscreen washer fluid or oil. They got a few parking fines too until the penny dropped that buying a ticket and not overstaying was much cheaper than the fine 🤷♀️Your diary has described how much your DD has grown up and it sounds like she is ready to pass her test and get driving now.Your garden sounds really pretty and colourful. Daffodils and tulips are such joys after a long winter.Have a lovely weekend4
