Agree with the scary smart meter display unit savingholmes - when the kettle, microwave and oven are going at the same time its a lot.  I haven't done a proper timed test, but DH says that when I use the electric ensuite shower it uses loads more than the main bathroom one fed from the gas boiler.  I prefer using a proper shower cubicle, but I might have to reconsider at some point or be really really quick.
Yes - I'm afraid your DH is right. An average electric shower might be anywhere from 8.5 - 10kWh rated, and of course electricity is far more expensive per kWh than gas too. We make a point of trying to make sure we always shower when our off peak rate is still in operation - but it's not always possible.

I got first dibs in months ago!  I wish I really do wish.  Quite apart from her ability to get rid of stuff, and that is massive, I need someone who can clean stuff below knee height.  I did wonder if I paid for her to stay at a local hotel she would help but then the hotel shut down although there is a best western just down the road.  But who would go anywhere for a best western?
  • Your cleaner sounds fab :)

@savingholmes I think time to self is essential, even for extroverts.  I think you may be more introverted so need it even more; a lot of creative people find this I've read.  You are doing brilliantly love Humdinger xx
