A huge conservatory would be a dream for me. Hope you find something you like.Mortgage start date Dec 2015 - $64,655.00
Mortgage end date Dec 2045 - NOT!!!!
Mortgage balance - $4600.00
Business Savings $43,310/100k
Hope to be mortgage-free by end of 20233 -
Thanks KK, Blackcats, Beanie, Leigh, Tahlullah, Jwil, MF, BM
Beanie and Jwil - Appointment went as well as such things do. I got a parking space nearby which was fab as I got myself the first appointment deliberately now I know the system. The issue I had the other week with the 90 min wait was because I was the last morning appointment!
I agree will all of you that EA was well out of order. The EA for the other property I described is not the same one.
Another 10 hour day today on top of hospital appointment!
Hope you are feeling better BM. Rough and painful to be on crutches. Definitely get the loft emptied when you can. Can your son help you? I got Ex to empty mine pre-divorce as I was unwilling to risk going up there if I was living alone in case I fell and there was no-one to help. If I were you I'd get a quote for a stair lift and then you know what you are working with. You don't have to go ahead.
Jwil and Blackcats - My boss bought me a Mr T meal deal today as I begged for someone to buy me lunch and she doesn't like asking people to do things she wouldn't. Otherwise I would have had no lunch. I ate during an important meeting as it was a non stop day and has only just finished!! I'll have to go for my steak and chips another day.
MF - I think the latest property I'm interested in is a good compromise if I can get the price down. It has great views, on paper has enough space and isn't much farther from particular motorway junctions than I am now. I need to get a viewing slot. DD is much happier now she is more independent. Good luck with your pay award. At least you have an idea of what's coming for your budget and the backpay will be great when it comes.
I get flexi so really looking forward to booking some time off. I'm currently told my deadlines are immoveable but I have suggested some options so need to see if they take them up. However, any delay and it could impact when I can reasonably go on leave. It's pointless taking any time off currently as no-one else sufficiently understands it and all the work would just pile up for me.

Can I just say that BG's customer service or complete lack of it is horrific. I switched mid July my account is still not set up correctly and despite asking for a combined bill they persist in taking out separate payments - they've increased both to the maximum amount that was supposed to be my dual payment and are completely ignoring all my messages to them. So frustrated.

I would seriously consider raising a formal complaint, to at least get you out of the onboarding loop and into the resolution team loop?

Sorry to hear about the problems with BG. Hope it all gets sorted."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

Raising a formal complaint with BG now also gets the clock ticking on a timeframe for Ombudsman escalation if that becomes necessary - if things don't get resolves you may end up cursing having an 8 week wait from when you do raise a complaint otherwise - as it's unlikely that BG will give you a voluntary deadlock letter.
Another happy Octopus customer here too - definitely wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I will be switching from BG as soon as it becomes worthwhile. I just worry about going out of the frying pan & into the fire. At least now I can get bills every 3 months. When they took over from Peoples Energy they were absolutely dire. Then they changed their systems for some & they were even worse. I've been with them off & on for over 40 years, they were bad then.

Thanks Beanie, KK. EH, BM and Jwil. I have been sending them messages via their enquiry form given they don't have a customer service email address that actually works - and each time I get a problem number and quote the previous problem numbers I've been given. They still haven't responded to ones I raised mid August. I have in the past spent multiple 45 minutes at a time in live chat trying to get them to resolve the issue and it's never resolved. But as you know work is so busy currently I'm not free in working hours to contact them which is now the only time you can get a live person at BG. They are total fails.
If I wasn't trying to move I'd switch - but as it is my account isn't set up properly - so I'm also reluctant to switch until I know exactly how my account stands.
I finished earlier today but only because my brain and words had slowed to a crawl. Noticeably stressed to others today which is not ideal. Really hope things get better soon.
I'm going to try and go to a house viewing at the weekend. Still need to set it up.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
