£62 probably isn’t enough for small claims, (crazy price for boxers though), don’t know how far OP would get with a chargeback if they returned the goods claiming they weren’t as described (possibly not far if the retailer defends the claim).
    It's £26 - for 12 pairs.  Just over £2 a pair.
The link given by the OP says £62.50 plus delivery.
So it does.  Their first post says £26, twice.

Regardless of what your link says, the Crosshatch website shows boxer shorts with 'flies' and boxer shorts without 'flies'.
Looking at the style, these are what M&S call 'hipsters' and 'trunks'.

You're right that the Crosshatch images clearly show some designs with a fly and some without.  All of which are described as boxers and none of which are what I would call boxers.  Clearly different manufacturers use the terms differently so:

The OP should have viewed the item he was buying on the website he was buying from.
Not assumed based on what 'most websites say'.

I need to think of something new here...

I think I missed the news that M&S's definition was to be taken as universal...

I think M&S abide by the dictats of the United Nations Underwear Definitions Committee.

    You missed nothing.
I didn't say M&S's definition was to be taken as universal.
It was merely to point out that different manufacturers describe things differently so one should never assume that an item you've previously purchased from one brand will be the same as another.
Different brands can also size things differently - which is another of the OP's complaints.
    I may be a size 10 in M&S but a size 14 in Primark.

The photo of what you bought seems to clearly show there is no opening.

They don't look like Boxers to me, but Boxer-Briefs which are (apparently) the type of underwear that women find most attractive on men:
    https://getnooks.com/blogs/news/what-underwear-do-women-like-attractive-mens-underwear
I wouldn't know about anything like that having been married for so long.

That type of item is available with or without the access point:
    https://www.crosshatchclothing.com/search?type=product&q=boxers

I always thought the leading brand of men's underwear for people that are interested in this type of thing was Calvin Klein with M&S for the rest of us.  Why are there more brands than that?

There's a discussion up-thread about what various retailers call male underwear.

The OP clearly bought the wrong item.
Crosshatch sell both styles - as I said on 23/11.
