Mrs Diy has bought lose underwear from shops and advised at the till it can't be returned and we just accept that
and understand why. (not sealed garments)
So I decided to investigate.
Though the link is from 2016, I still think it is valid.
From the guardian, I've always found them to be right.

Although it is not clear, it sounds like the linked article refers to an in-store purchase.
Although the OP does not specifically say he bought on-line, he did look at the website.
Different rules apply to in-store and on-line purchases.
The person at fault in the linked article was the sister who did not obtain a gift receipt to prove how much she paid for the knickers.
Without that, any refund would be at the price of the item at the time of return.
And a return for 'change of mind' - which is the reason in the article does not give anyone the right to an exchange or refund if bought in store.

There could be debates on the retailer not providing the correct information or the EU ruling on the mattress case but your post 1 above the quoted mentioning the lack of “hygienic seals” is incorrect as a reason for the OP to cancelIn the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces1 -

I was - and still am - unsure what your point is.
The link you provided seems to be irrelevant.2 -

That is what 'confused' me enough to say I was unsure what point you were making.
As long as you are aware that there are different rules governing in-store and on-line purchases, that's fine.

My " thanks" to the simple point made by the other poster only meant one thing but you have posted three times to raise the same point, not sure why.
Anyway, take care as I don't want to keep on going over the same point again and again.
Have a nice evening0 -
£62 probably isn’t enough for small claims, (crazy price for boxers though), don’t know how far OP would get with a chargeback if they returned the goods claiming they weren’t as described (possibly not far if the retailer defends the claim).0
