    Hello all,

I had a letter reply to my SAR today from Manor Parking Limited. The letter reads:

'Thankyou for you letter, If you require a subject access request then you have to provide clear identification so that we know it is you before we release any information, a v5c is not identification, king regards'

Im not keen to provide a copy of my driving license or passport, any ideas what I could send or how I could handle this situation?

    Many thanks

After all what are they going to do with it.......

One possibility is to compare the id photo with other photos and declare "ah, we now know the name of the driver".   ;)

I'd cover the photo and passport /driving licence number.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Report them to the ICO; if the V5C has your name and address and it is the same as the name and address they used to send the PCN and any other letters what more do they want?  Photo ID is useless to them unless they have a photo database of every single person in the UK.
  • Hi, so I sent a copy of my driving license with the photo and number obscured. I have today received my exact same letter posted back to me, at the bottom of the copy of my license they’ve hand written that they need photo ID. Can’t help but feel they’re really starting to take the p*ss. Any advice?

Report them to the ICO. No prevaricating, get your complaint in!

  • Hi all,

Many thanks for all your help so far.

A few things to update you on:

I received an email from Gladstone Solicitors this week:

    Dear ....

Further to previous correspondence, we confirm our instruction pertaining to Parking Charge Notice number 97464 has been withdrawn and our file is now closed.

    Kind Regards

Following this I checked Manor Parking website, put in the PCN number and I can find the PCN but the 'outstanding balance' is £0.

I have now been told my both my MP and by the solicitors that the PCN has been cancelled, but despite asking Manor Parking several times in written correspondence they have neither confirmed or disputed that it is cancelled, however from the outstanding balance can I assume it has been cancelled?

A couple of days after this I received the answer to my SAR (I did contact ICO about Manor Parking refusing to accept anything other than photo ID but they told me they were within their rights to do this, I therefore provided a copy of my drivers license. They advised me to write to manor parking once all of this is resolved to request them to destroy all information relating to me under Right to Erasure, section 17 or GDPR - which they would then be legally obliged to do).The SAR is not complete for a number of reasons:

    1. Some correspondence between me and them is missing - I know this as I have kept copies of everything
    2. It does not contain a PDT machine record for the date of he PCN which I requested
    3. It does not contain the details of the correspondence with my MP
Should I reply to the SAR to say it is inadequate? Or can I now assume this PCN is now cancelled and I no longer need to worry about it?

    Many thanks

Not sure how photo ID will help identify you unless the PPC has a database of photos of everybody in the UK!  You can take it that the PCN is cancelled.  Keep that e-mail though in case they try to resurrect it surreptitiously!

I agree, I genuinely think they were just trying to be as difficult as possible!
