Moved into a house with LPG - tips.

I've just moved to a house with a 2000 litre LPG tank.

Calor has suggested that i half-fill it for £700 to see how I get on before making any decisions about contracts. This seems sensible as there is only 19% left in the tank, which is about 25 days worth and they need 14 days notice to come out.

Do you have any advice or tips on getting LPG cheaper - should I move away from Calor?

  • Hi, if you are out of contract then contact lpg-save to get them to tender quotes/contracts, they dont charge for this service. We used them 2 years ago, and are about to use them again to recontract.
Have Calor advised you of their price per litre? I'm assuming about 70 PPL based on what you said above? Have the offered a contract price after this proposed fill?
We are currently with Flogas paying 40 pence per litre, and the new quote has come through at 54 ppl.
  • I cannot see any mention of a delivery charge, unless I'm looking in the wrong place. I have asked @kassy64 to confirm where on the paperwork it stated it :)

  • We've just moved into our LPG property and arranged for previous owner to get a refill as tank had less than 10% and didn't want to run out.  Calor took advantage and charged 84.5ppl so beware.

Have a good read of the last few pages of thread linked above by Mister G.
In summary I have been with Flogas for 4 years and never had to pay delivery charges, however my latest contract came through from LPG save and they thought I would be paying £75 per delivery. I contacted Flogas direct and they have told me if in contract there are no discretionary delivery charges, so that’s where I stand at present, I’ve gone back to LPG save with this info and told me today they are preparing the contract on that basis with notes stating there will be no delivery costs.
Have you actually seen a contract, delivery is mentioned in the contract t&c’s leaflet that accompanies the contract at Section 6 sub section 6.5. Which basically states delivery charges may apply to all orders at their discretion. Good luck
    Hope this info helps
