An interesting looking current account for people with larger household bills and  supermarket shopping. Costs £3/month and pays up to £20 cahback a month. It also comes with a savings account where you get 4% AER on max £4,000 for a year

Do your own numbers to see whether it’s worth it for you.

Are Santander possibly moving away from 123?

I'd make less cashback from my bills here than from my 123 lite, but the addition of supermarket shopping would more than compensate for that.

Remember also that you currently get up to £10 cashback for energy DDs. Might be worth waiting for the second £10 before upgrading/sidegrading to Edge

123 is staying, at least for now, but 123 Lite is now closed to new customers.  Santander must see Edge as a replacement for 123 Lite, although existing 123 Lite customers can keep their accounts.

As of today they are no longer allowing new customers to 123 so it does sound like this replaces it.

I've just converted my normal santander account to edge and increased my gas/electric direct debit to £750 a month (I'll apply for a refund every month).
  • Not worth it for me, as I get £5pm cashback for my Santander mortgage with my Lite
