I must admit I’m not a big fan of National tyres, ATS euromaster, Kwikfit or Halfords.
But for an oil and filter change I’ve used them.
Price is about £90 these days.0 -

Thanks for sharing. I think I will use them next time. We are running 12 and 13 year old cars so not overly precious where I take them in all honesty.0

Most cars tend to be designed to make oil and filter changes easy, but that's not always the case.
Manufacturers can share engines with different models and other manufacturers, just like the Renault/Nissan 1.5 DCi and it can often lead to some packaging compromises.
Also, diesels tend to have more components to treat noise and vibration from the engine, which often means they have undertrays slung under the engine.
This obviously causes some access issues as the undertray often needs to come off and back on again for oil and filter changes, which can add to the labour.
Anyone that's took an undertray off a car over a year or two old will understand the grief rusty clips and screws and broken plastic fasteners can cause and probably wouldn't call the job too easy, more so the poor sod who's flat on his/her back on a cold garage floor!
So you can understand a garage might consider an oil and filter change on a car like this to require a little more labour and often some new clips and screws.0 -

Partly the reason why I wouldn't want to risk Kwikfit and the likes to do the oil change, chances are they've bludgeon the car to bits especially when the jobs are slightly more tricky taking the above into consideration plus the fact the actual oil filter is always tucked well behind the radiator and below the hoses on this engine. Horrible job to be fair, K9K 1.5D0 -
Even main dealers can mess things up as it is the person doing the job
Even if a garage is good, main dealer, fast fit etc and ha a good reputation, it is only as good as the manager there and then if you are really unlucky someone that is lazy or not sure re your car does it
you have a popular car and give nissan a call, up north I can't see them charging more that 70 quid all in0 -

I appreciate you have come here for advice but the amount of people I hear getting 4 or 5 trades people to quote for work never ceases to amaze !, no wonder everything costs so much as half of their time is spent doing quotes and not earning money.0 -

Sure you've come to the right place this is Money saving expert not money raising expert 🤣🤣🤣I saved £150 going over to Birmingham and not bothering with the expensive local garages here in Leamington Spa, somehow that makes me a bad person0
