EDF Energy Bill and Government rebate
Options
Interesting bill from EDF.
(Image removed by Forum Team)
It seems to indicate that I am not getting the benefit of the government rebate and EDF are pocketing the money. On the bill EDF deduct the rebate from our Direct debit payment. The explanation EDF have given is that this is the money paid to us as a refund. What they seem to forget is that the government have given EDF the money.

Have you checked to see if the £66 has appeared in your bank account?
I suspect that once you are into full month billing it will all sort itself out.0 -
EdF are not just pocketing money from the government.
It might not be as clear as you would like it to be, but you are getting the benefit, not them.1 -
Your online a/c will have two £66 entries - one a Credit of £66 and one of Refund of £66.
That £66 will be a Credit in 4/5 days in the Bank a/c from which the DD has come.
I have both the October and the November payments that way.

double check if you have the refund. Or if the ££66 has been taken off what you owe or will owe in the future. I must admit I had to question mine as Eon actually added to the £66 to what I owed rather than take it off the bill and then had to do a correction so I think the companies are finding it all a bit of a challenge.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. it will also be on the pdf bill detail (second page?) where they show the number of units used and price per unit.
the 66 refund is your money paid back to you. then theres ALSO 66 taken off your bill. thats the goverments 66.
they could have kept your full dd and the goverments 66 so you'd build more credit for when the scheme runs out but the goverment wanted people to see the extra money in there bank account not there energy account.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. EDF deducts the £66 from the usage with just an seemingly unrelated entry, the final sum just gets lower.
Check the second page, have you really only used £25.26, or was it maybe this amount after the £66 were deducted from it?0 -
In response to the above I have to say that many have not grasped the issue.
If the government is giving us £66/mth then there should be a credit to the account (Similar to our DD). There then should be a debit (Refund) of £66 to account for a payment to our bank. Which we have received. The net result is that ALL of our DD goes to pay for our usage. This is not the case with the above bill and EDF have not identified the Government credit to our account.
I have raised the issue with EDF which they are investigating. It may take another month during which time we may receive another bill. It will be interesting to see what this says.0 -
I don't see the problem - it's for your energy but paid through your electricity account for convenience. I and you are £66/67 a month better off.
Referring to my earlier response. Once I've got the £66 in my bank account I do a transfer to my gas account - net result I'm better off.

edf have been taking the 66 government credit directly off your bill when working it out in the detail but not putting it in the summary on the first page (because there system was not designed to show this payment and the payment is only for 6 months so there not changing it).
its not that we're not grasping the issue. its that its possible they made a mistake on your account but its not possible to say say if they have or not based on what you have posted on the thread. you would need tp post the full bill (all pages) or check the detail yourself to confirm if the 'charges for this period' have already had the 'missing' 66 deducted.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Have a look at how many of those people still have a problem after we've looked at their bill and pointed out what is going on. The majority of remaining issues are about the lack of paper vouchers for key-meter customers - which you are not.
There might be a glitch on your account - we don't have enough details to know whether there is or not (and every time someone thinks they've found one, we have been able to point out why it is not) - but you're posting like there's some sort of systemic issue with EdF and this is extremely unlikely given the evidence.2
